Hey as you probably all saw im looking for an S15.

Im looking at doing finance through the dealer.

Anyone got any thoughts on finance? I've always thought of finance as a bit dodgy. But ive never really looked into it.

Also, what is a hire purchase?

don't even think of going through a dealer for finance,unless you enjoy being anally raped.

get the money yourself from a lender,THEN go looking for the car.
ideally,get an unsecured personal loan. your insurance is cheaper,and not compulsory that way,and if you default on the loan,they can't immediately reposses the car.

like fergo said don't go through a dealer, unless the dealer happens to be accredited with a major bank or finance company (e.g. GE), the rates are pretty good if so.

best bet is to give the auto finance dept of one of the major's a call, they tend to be cheaper in terms of rate, i.e. 12% + for an unsecured personal loan, or 9.5% for finance secured by the car.

only catch is that you'll need comprehensive insurance and you'll have to buy from a dealer.

Also an HP stands for Hire Purchase, business purposes only.

Do a HP- 0% residual over 2 years - have the need for better cash flow and get a better tax relief (its greater than claiming depreciation)- sell it back to yourself after the lease- then own the car. Then do it all again. (and negotiate a better interest rate than whatever they give you).
Something along these lines. Complicated sort..of...ish..
