Anyone got one? planning on getting one? know someone with one etc

how much and where?

i know there is a WORKING downgrade for 2.5 and 2.6, but id rather not take the risk. so i want to chip it as id like to get a 2 gig chip and do the homebrew thing etc

anyone?

So what does the chip do for me?

I can run homebrew without downgrading the firmware and play all games like normal?

essentially its a different version firmware, so you can have 1.5 on the chip, but then keep upgrading your unit to whatever the latest is. like multibooting

personally I wouldnt bother with a chip just yet.

I recon its more of a risk getting a chip installed (installation is quite intricate) rather than downgrading. The price of the chip and installation would probably be the same price as a second hand psp anyway.

the new devhook can make ur psp run 2.5 firmware on a 1.5 psp.
so u can browse the net and load most isos with wifi support etc

but ultimately its your psp, and your risk, so its your decision.

For those of you who don't know, you can now downgrad your 2.6 PSP with the new GTA:SA savegame downgrader to 1.50.

Check out your favourite PSP homebrew sites for links. It works for all psps version 2.60 and lower except for PSPs with the TA-082 chipset type.

I did it on mine today and it's all working.

I was gonna say that the devhook 0.41d can now emulate 2.5 on a 1.5 psp so you get the browser, avc movies and well play games etc...

i wouldnt bother with the chip but hey thats my 2cs :P

if you go to pspcrazy.com plenty of info there!!!!

Car: ?
from what ive read up about it (briefly) it was made/designed for people who had psp firmware above 2.01, mainly for 2.5+
you can run custom firmware and homebrew (backups) and im sure theres a few more advantages but dont think its anything major.

but a few weeks after the release of the modchip someone discovered how to downgrade 2.5/2.6 psp to 1.5 or 1.0 hence the reason of the explosion of custom firmware currently out.
apprently the modchip wont work on TA-082 model psps.

its pretty much for people who has a psp with the original firmware of 1.52 to 2.5 or 2.6 who have upgraded to firmware 2.71 or the latest which cant be downgraded and regret it coz they cant play homebrew/backup games.

so newier psp cant be downgraded nor can it be modded.

personally i wouldnt buy a modchip. downgrading the psp is so simple...i think its a bigger risk bricking your psp with the modchip coz you gotta open the thing up etc.
