I remember seeing transformers, astroboy and thundercatsas a kid and loveing it but what I rellty loved robotech as a kid I remember being late for schools so I could watch it Then years later I found out that robotech was in japan called Macross and there where heaps of differnet types of Macross out there and that led to other Anime.

macross is my favourite anime series. watching the robotech version as a kid,I was totally blown away by the detail and quality of the storyline compared to american stuff,and even to this day,it still rates.

I have a few of the original valkyrie toys that I bought from ebay,and a kid up the road a few years ago.

Well said fergo308, Macross Plus is cool, From memory when they turned it it to robotech they added too other non macross tv shows in to it and called it robotech (f**ken americans)

yeah I got 1 or 2 of those things lying around somewhere.

On the topic of Macross.

When i was a kid i got a transformer for christmas one year called jetfire. Id never seen it on the show (they have skyfire or some other gay name) I found out later that it was a re badge of the macross valkyrie. It was also the best quality transformers toy i ever got!

On modern cartoons: How shit are they? Even the remakes are just non violent crap!

Has anyone seen the new astroboy? weak! Old astro was blowing shit up with his ass guns and tearing arms off things and had decent bad guys. New one, none of that, he just ponces around!

New transformers, poor. there are about 4 bots total! Where's the cast of thousands we used to have? And again, really toned down.

I blame new non violent cartoons for all the emo kids!

there was this cartoon i used to be fascinated by about a mahassive space ship which had like a city with grassy plains and stuff inside it. that was cool. i think i only ever saw it once but its stuck with me.

voltus V was another show,which I don't believe ever screened here.

there were two versions of 'voltron',the later one you see box sets of everywhere,and was originally called 'go lion'. the earlier version had a robot made of 15 individual vehicles,which could also make 3 teams of 5 combinations,in a land,sea,or air role,and was called Dairugger XV in Japan.


robotech was made up of three completely un-related anime series. first was super dimensional fortress Macross,second was super dimensional cavalry Southern cross,and Genesis Climber Mospeada.
the best of the 3 was definitely macross,the story was the best written,and the characters had far more depth than in the other two shows.

Jay: which toys do you have? I currently have 3 original macross VF1 valkyries (one std,one in super config. with missiles and FAST packs,and one armoured),and a jetfire re-badge,along with a zentraedi male power armour,a Tomohawk destroid,and a mini die cast macross in the storm attacker mode.
