ummm, tried another modem? tried upgrading firmware on modem/router?

1. Firewall off.
2. My old modem comes tomorrow.
3. According to Optus I have the most up to date, 1337est firmware possible. Also I'm the only one with it. O.o

Sorry for the epic revival.

First thing I solved the problem. It turns out my wall socket was dodgy and so we moved the modem to the front. Now, it worked for about 2 months. This is where the 2nd issue comes in. While browsing the internet just hangs, about every 2-3 minutes. In fact it took me a whole minute to attempt to open this. I'm using ethernet..

I can't even play online, for example. I play CoD4, every 30 seconds i have lag spikes. Just skip along. I'm really pissed off..after hoping I had managed to fix it once and for all. Fuck optus fails..

Flashing like no tomorrow. I plugged in a spare network card so maybe it will fix stuff up.

how many other computers do you have on the network??

if its flashing like crazy, looks like traffic, something (virus, P2P etc) could be sucking all the bandwidth

I meant to say its flashing as per normal, which would indicate the network is working? The only other computer is my mum's which is a laptop.

check for viruses and spyware etc......... on both machines.

Nope. Never, hers is constant. Which means there is a problem in my shitty machine.

As I said I changed the network card and it seems to have lessened..

you probably have a virus or just the pages you are visiting have two many pics and stuff.

like my computer hangs at carsales.com.au if i have more then 5 tab opens of cars.

a format solves it for a while and a good virus scan will help out. but make sure you use a minimal impact one. i had kaspersky last year and it will hang for a while when torrents were on. the new 2009 seem to be less effected.
