What colour range/spectrum are the factory Xenon HID lights? Hmmm, I should take a pic later and compare to lights on this thread.

The JDM service manual doesnt mention it. only the halogens

Like Rob said, Earle would know. ill ask him when i speak to him

they are probably something like 4800K, on his car they werent very blue. but they were a nice bright white

This is just for the standard driving lights, yeah? i.e. the high beams etc. are still using normal halogen lights?

If anyone can be farked to organise a group buy count me in if it's less than 600 for a full kit.

Yeah it is, doubt anyone would pay for 2 kits to do the highbeams, not like you need high beams once you have xenon, when you put them on, you get this dirty yellow colour on the road.
My mates Astra has driving lights and used to have them one all the time, now he has the xenon, they look shit when they are on.
Again, you would have to buy another kit to do the driving lights.

Factory HID's are hell white. Whiter than your photos, but then again it's hard to tell from pics. Only problem with factory kits are the big $$$. We installed a set on a mates car and they look shit hot. Plus he has the height adjustment knob inside which is cool to play with.

Just one question. With these aftermarket kits, are the ballast separate from the lights itself, or are they one piece like factory kits?

i believe the kits are seperate. so are the factory ones. just that the ballast/starter bolts to the bottom of the headlamp unit for convenience and space saving.

yes id love a set of factory ones too :) cant afford them tho. they are pretty rare unless you can pick them up new from nissan. but they are a not pretty price.

I took some pics for the factory HID xenons, I think I need a better camera and some photography lessons however.

Hehe, I was at ProConcept the other day and Josh seen my kit and ........

Yerp, I found the same thing, when driving everything reflective, street signs, number plates, side markers, all glow bullshit bright blue.

Swapping to 6,500K made it less blue, and seems brighter too.
The one on the left is 7,500K in my S15 (projector style) and the one on the right is 6,500K (normal headlights).

We should meet up one night so we can compare side by side.
How much do they retail for?

Good stuff.

The 6500K definitely looks brighter in the picture....

I think a few people next to me at the lights were amazed at how bright they were :) ..... 4 cars flashed me because they thought i had my High beems on

They said they are going to retail it for around $850..... :o ..... bit steep if you ask me....
