Hi All,

Not sure if this will avoid you getting defected, it's probably been around for ages but i saw this and am about to place an order.

I was about to buy an Arc Airbox to replace my K&N Pod, this Apexi Airbox will let you use your pod and just house it, hopefully this will be more 'likeable' to the cops.

Hope it's of use to some of you.
:)

P.S I'm sure you can get it cheaper elsewhere (e.g greenline.jp).

Been defected is not really the main problem, its whether you will pass inspection later on. You can get defected for anything, but only some things pass inspection.

But needless to say, covering an exposed pod is good regardless.

Do you think a covered POD like the one in the picture above would pass inspection Nismodified?

I dont think it would be 101% legal because it isn't sealed. But looking at it in a positive way, it wont be blatently illegal looking if your car is inspected as the rules say you should have it boxed in, and that is what you have done.

NO, but it hasnt stopped me from using one.

At best, it would deter retarded cops from stirring shit, avoiding defection was not the main reason to shield my pod.

Thanks, as far as i understand it's an Airbox which looks sealed.

At lease it's better that my current situation of using a pod without any sheilding at all, it will keep the air a little bit cooler i hope.
:)

It does not look like a box at all, true we cant see the angle we would like to see, but from that pic it looks like a piece if metal thats it.
The ARC box is good but still draws hot air from the engine bay, you would be better of just taking the cover off you std air box and use a high flow filter.
Though the best set up I have seen and it was on a 260rwkw S15 had the standard air box with the APS side feed air supply from the wheel arch and a cold air intake cut in the front with air being fed from piping from the front bar.

I have recently bought this for my car.....It's way better then the Clark Rubber foam I used to have......Car is more responsive in the heat.....fuel economy is better.....I've also done some extra heat shielding by lining the inside with insulation.....highly recomended....

If you live within the Kuringai precint, dont even bother getting that aluminium box (and it's not a fully enclosed box anyway). The local jacks love to pick on ppl without an original airbox. I've been booked twice. But once I move out of this shitty area, the first thing I'm gonna do is put back the pod.

That looks nice Kev.
What did you use to insulate?
Can you PM me what you paid please.
Can you still hear any flutter noise with that one?
I would really like to take a template of that setup and build my own.

Of course you could always mount your pod filter properly and have it certified by an Engineer. Then again, that's probably a lot easier than trying to hide it and you can't complain when you get defected for driving a vehicle which isn't certified to comply, so there's obviously no fun in that.

True, but my main aim is not trying to hide it, it is to setup some sort of partition to stop the hot air being sucked in.
I have a temp probe inside my air filter so I should be able to see straight away how much difference the partition makes.
Thanks to Dumheds talents and skills http://www.mys15t.com/mys15t/dual_probe1.htm
And yes that is reading minus 1.9 degrees, good old wakefield in winter.
