What do you think of this? Would it do the job on a K&N Air Filter/Pod style for my S15?

Image

Any thoughs on if this could cause any problems or have any disadvantages?

I saw it Selling on Ebay for about $60 AUD.

rice.

metal just heats up and soaks heat in anyways. plus its so close to the pod it basically blocks air coming in. the whole point of a pod is to suck in air from 360 degrees.

haha..i was just curious.

I have been eyeballing 'clark rubber' when i drive past 'em to make a partition myself but like Zie...can't be assed at the moment. Looking for a quick fix.

Been considering an ARC Super Induction Air Box instead recently. Still researching alternatives.

Thanks for the input guys.
:)

They are a bit pricey for just a piece of plastic, and I dotn have the stock cooler piping so there would be a big hole in it.

I found a great Aitbox that will cover an existing pod air filter!
Around $300.

See: http://xspeed.dreamhost.com/catalog/pro ... cts_id=455

My order has been placed.

aluminium really soaks up heat, i used to have one on my s15 and on a hot day the pod felt really hot especially when ur stopped at a set of lights (i had a CAI too). the best material is heat resistant foam from clark rubber or carbon fibre or plastic, but need DIY.

Car: Used to have s14a 200sx :(
I'm not sure if it contributes at all, but I have an ARC airbox on my s14a and i dont get one bit of 'bog' on starts at traffic lights, etc. I used to have a rampod on one of my previous cars which was really bad, so I know what it feels like ....

The ARC box was really expensive comparatively to other filters on the market, but I shouldn't be defected for it either (because its boxed) even thought the stock BOV is still very loud through it with the car on stock boost....Im impressed with it....

Just make one up yourself. You can download a template, make a trial one out of cardboard and when you have it neat, make it out of the proper materials. Just a few hours to do and minimal money outlay.
