Hi,

Anybody got one of these?
See: http://www.roadangel.com.au/

It's a device for $1000 that used GPS Positioning to tell you where speed cameras are, accident blackspots, school zones...etc?

Any thoughts?

Payam

yes they are legal as they dont detect radar

good idea, but i prefer to keep an eye on the street signs :)

i cant justify $1000 when i watch the road anyway so i know when im going through 40 zones and past fixed cameras

Yeah, there's prolly also something in the fine print that says they're not liable if it doesn;t pick one up....

it doesn't 'pick them up', it just uses a database of GPS locations, combined with a GPS locator, to sound a warning when you are near one of the locations.

you'd be better off getting in car nav, and bookmark all the camera locations for the money.

or spend the money elsewhere, and read the signs, as already mentioned...

even if u pay the money for the angel or what ever, u still need to be on the lookout for temporary radar traps, which are much more difficult to spot then say a fixed speed camera.

so there isnt too much point unless u are lasy, which would lower u into a false sense of security when driving.

waste of a grand, as they have said it just beeps or whatever when u get near a fixed speed camera (ones with the massive signs) or a local cop hidey spot

Alright, what do they do? It would such if they weren't 100% updated continually and you relaxed with looking out for fixed cameras, school zones etc and you got a ticket because the Road angel wasn't updated on that road. :-?

Yes you would have to update to make it work for you, but if you see something new you can actually program it there and then, then it will remember that place.

Drive at the speed limit, listen to the traffic reports.

Saved you all 1000 bucks.

:o Alternately, there's some place online selling spray/covers for your number plates so the cams won't get you. Undercover/highyway patrol will bend you over and stick it to you though ;)

But don't speed kids...
