Post subject:  DIY CLOSED AIR INTAKE

THE INTAKE
First off what will be needed to get the piping from the front into the engine bay.
Parts used:
2 x 80mm 90 deg. PVC elbows
1 X 100mm to 80mm reducer
1 x Length of 80mm PVC

Using smaller diameter pipe & fittings will make the job easier but you want the CAI as big as possible.

THE AIR BOX (barrel).
Parts used:
1 x Empty Taubmans 4 litre paint tin
1 x Air pod (Will change to a open top pod when I get the time)
1 x Funnel
1 x Paint tin pourer
3 x Self tapping screws & large washers
ImageImage
You will need to cut the base out of the paint tin. The pod filter seats perfectly where the paint lid used to be.

Here it is put together.

Join the air box to the intake with 80mm flexable hose.

AIR BOX TO INTAKE MANIFOLD
no pictures but a rundown of what was used.
1 x Length of 65mm PVC
1 x 65mm 45 deg. PVC elbow
2 x 65mm PVC joiners
1 x 65mm Silicone joiner

Here's a full view of it in the engine bay.

it's covered it with heat insulation which that can be found at Clark Rubber.
there are some clips that were fitted to stop the top from coming off the air box.
The battery had to be moved and changed to a smaller one depending on the car.

so does your AE82 twin cam go any better with the super dulux intake system?

looks a little ghetto, but top marks for lateral thinking. making full use of your local bunnings performance centre gets you an extra smiley stamp as well!

if you really want to give you 4AG some go I can give you a list of work to do.

Ha brings back memories of my friends vl turbo commodore, did basically the same thing back in 1998. Made a noticable difference too, dont see the point in just having an airpod hanging in the engine bay and not closed off.

Love the twin cams..
Gave mine hell back in the day

Nice setup there, in my r33 gtst i used to sit my pod behind my front bar and run som flexi pipe up thru that hole. Will be doing it again as soon as i fmic my s14.

It used to get a bit wet in the rain tho which i'm sure isnt ideal :-?
