I cant find any s13 nismo front bars and every time I do theyre usually sold...
Ive found a place that does a replica of the nismo front bar in fibre glass and may have to turn to that option.

So how would the fibre glass front bar compare with the plastic?

you wont notice a difference unless you crash

The plastic bar can flex a bit before exploding (tested on a wombat.. no front bar left), whereas a fibreglass bar will crack with just a nudge.

That said, many places are using that flexi-fibre stuff now, which is as good as, if not better than the original plastic items.

With the differce in price it's worth going fibreglass.

I'd prefer a plastic bumper to a fibreglass one anyday. they'll handle small scrapes with no dramas, whereas FRP will chip and crack from a stern look from a passing pedestrian.

fiberglass or known alsom as "Fiber Reinforced Plastic": common kit material thats a sprayed on mesh of fiberglass built into a mold.
Main advantages of fiberglass is its relatively light weight and durable, its cheap to fix. Typical disadvantages is it cracks on impact.

Urathane and other plastic ones are of a plastic type materials (obviously). Typically urathane bounces back from most minor impacts instead of cracking it pushes in and returns to its orginal form, its much lighter than even FRP. Generally speaking the problems with urathane are its expensive to make. Also urathane sags after a while and cant be just bondoed like fiberglass in large impacts.

That is what i know from uni

My plastic Nismo front bar has taken quite a few beatings and still has no major cracks.

The damage I've seen happen to fibreglass front bars on the other hand... :-?

NOPE- Flexi Glass/ Flexi fiber- is an additive they put in the resin to allow more flex, because the moulds are so shit house you need to flex it to get it on your car.
After a few months- it ripples.
Normal polyster resin and a good mold that fits is all you need to care about.
Finding an original plastic bar would most likely be off an import car from Japan. No manfacturer in Aus is making plastic items.
The last guys to do it have shut down.

Just to support what everyone has said here. I have an S14a and would really like to get a Vertex front bar and side skirts and a replica Nismo rear bar, but the thought of hitting a drive way or animal along the old pacific hwy have been enough to keep the original Luxury kit :D.

Plastic everytime. 8)

i dont think any fibreglass stuff will be up to the same durability of plastics
