I had the whole bottle cap trick on my car for around 8 months. When i took off the turbo to install the manifold i didnt see any signs of premature wear.

That said, its only a t25g. When i upgrade turbo's, then i'll definitely be using my BOV to err on the side of caution.

wat do people think of the turbosmart dual port bov? is it tightened for plumback and loosened for atmo? and does that mean that in effect you can't adjust the spring tension whilst in atmo mode?

Yea im pretty sure you can adjust the spring tension. They are alright, good if cops are gonna defect you for it being too loud! they are abit pricey though, then you also have to either buy the tubing and clamps to make it plumb back or a turbosmart adaptor kit.

et turbos didnt come with a bov, that sound you described is compressor surge nothing to do with the wastegate, however ets dont usaully make that sound due to having a flap style air flow meter, unless they have aftermarket ecu and have removed the afm.
