I'll be amazed if he actually drives the car on that. lexan may be bullet RESISTANT,but it isn't all that flexible. drive hard, and your rim will snap in half after a while.
that's assuming the heat alone doesn't melt it of course. especially since it's been pointed out that there's nowhere for it to escape through. even pumping ari in there won't help much, the air has to flow through to cool, and if it comes in and hits a perspex wall,it's not going to be able to do much more than heat up and swirl around inside the guard.

how many cars that run centreline flat centred wheels do you see being pushed hard? not many I'd wager. those that do usually end up in wrecking yards.

top marks for lateral thinking, but zero for application.
definitely would get people looking twice though,if that's what you're after.

When the rim fails and the undercarriage starts scraping all over the road? hardly the attention they desire I'd wager.

that`s just all theoretical though. maybe the rims work fine. can`t bag something til you own it and know first hand what it`s like.

Hey, why don't you try welding the wastegate shut on your turbo and going drag racing?

Or have you tried it?

Why do you feel the need to make assertions that leave you looking like an idiot?

The pics were posted, and people's opinions of them came up.

I'm giving mine. I don't "care" as if the existance of these rims affect my life, but I do have an opinion about them.

Why stand up and try to justify these rims, that quite a few of us find pointless? Does it affect your wellbeing somehow?

I thought I posted my comment earlier in the thread (which is quite old now), but it must have been on another forum I saw it on.

On the street, there's no clear material in production durable enough. People are experimenting with translucent aluminium, which probably would cope, but I doubt these wheels are made of it.

So I reckon they'd be great on an AutoSalon car, since that's more about looks than actually using a car for its intended purpose. Of course, since you can't see the wheel itself its just a showcase for your brakes. Which is great if you have a mad set of aftermarket brakes. This guy doesn't (he doesn't even have the good stock brakes), so its as ricey as a Civic GLi with a CF GT wing and nothing else done to it.

My welding the wastegate shut is in response to the foolish (and potentially fatal) idea that if you've never tried something, and know firsthand what its like, you shouldn't be allowed to bag it out.

I've never shot myself in the head with a sawnoff shotgun, but if someone said its safe to do so I can't see why I shouldn't be allowed to bag the idea out.....even though I don't know firsthand that my brains won't be painting the wall next to me.

i understand your point but that's a slightly exaggerated way of putting it wouldn't you say
i like the accessories forum for all the gadgets/parts that i never would have known about or seen
it's not like i know that rich mofo or anything but if they were your rims and they worked perfectly, you'd be pretty pissed off if people were hating on you just for having them woouldn't you (i roll on stockies myself)
and after all, there is a separate bitching forum a few clicks away for those who are into that

i concur with the first post, they look schmick as :D
