Hi Guys,

Thinking about a shift lamp but not sure which one.

So far am thinking about the Pivot Shift Lamp X, M or Pro ($220+), Pivot Tacho Lamp ($270) this is the 80mm blue tacho that has 3 inbuilt red led's (these are from a sponsor on NS.com) and the Gizzmo shift light ($?).

What do you think of these? Which ones do you use now?

Thanks

why do you want one first of all?

are you deaf,and partially blind?

if you have trouble reading a tacho, fair enough,go get a shift light, but otherwise,if you can't hear when an engine is approaching redline, and can't see the needle moving upwards on the tacho, and will then shift gear at the appropriate revs, you have larger issues that a shift light will not solve.

lol @ fergo

if I was to get one I would get a gizmo...that only being because you can then also hook a launch controller up to it

im with fergo. i barely look at the tacho. i know how hard im revving by listening to the motor. i dont often hit the limiter as i know when the engine is getting close to redline.

as for launches, u can still listen :)

but if u have to get one, PLEASE dont get a monster tacho to go with it. i might be 5 cars behind you, but with that 12" autometer tach, i can see ur car is idling too high :P

If you have a working factory tacho, then aftermarket tachos are a bit of a waste.

I have the pivot 3 light thing in my cefiro (my factory tach didn't like the SR conversion too much)

I love the thing. It sits nicely in front of the non-working standard tacho, and is only about an inch thick

damn I forgot I posted this topic!!!!

the reason I need a shift light is that i am getting cams installed and the rev limit 'may' be set higher than factory redline, also the car used to rev very quickly before (alot quicker than stock) so a shift light would be good. Anything that keeps your eyes on the road is good.

I did have a monster tacho but too ricy - sold it, just want something inconspicuous and does its job! I think the Pivot may be the way to go.

btw justin, your a funny guy, useless but funny.

damn your quick!

ha ha Justin dont tell me your offended by that!!!!!!!!????? i thought you were think skinned!

After asking me if I'm blind or partially deaf - and hinting that i couldnt drive, I thought my reply was rather subdued.

Mate, if you were honestly trying to help me with your first post (I thought you were being a smart arse quite frankly) then I'll be a man and apologise publicly.

*L* when I'm sitting in front of the machine watching videos, yeah,I'll respond pretty quickly.

basically yeah,I was saying that unless you can't drive, you don't really need a shift light.
I wasn't saying you can't directly. I don't know either way whether you can or not,as I haven't met you.

in my experience,a street car does NOT need a shift lamp. if you're in a top fueller doing 6's,fair enough, but if you're doing anything over 10 seconds for a quarter, you have enough time to watch the tacho as you go down the strip, and don't need a lamp to tell you when to change gears.

I was being pretty forceful with my comments,I'll admit that, but I was mainly trying to stop you from wasting a couple of hundred bucks that could be better spent somewhere else on the car.
generally these days,and especially when it's the younger guys you're talking to,if you don't bash people's heads a bit,they don't listen...
