Ok i bought my s15 with an engineers certificate on it
so if a cop pulls me over i can just show them that right and i should be covered for any possible defects?
the rego number is the same
but just the owners name is on the engineers certificate and thats the only thing im wondering about.. so yea just wanted to know if it still works?

make sure you go to the RTA and get them to register the engineers certificate under your rego and name. This will avoid any confusion later on.

Any mods you further do yo your car, which arent law-aiding, will render the engineers certificate useless. Also any existing mods such as BOV on the car which isnt engineered will also render it useless.

Best to get it checked over if you want to be on the 100% safe side.

engineers certificates only cover the modifcation on the certificate, e.g. if the car is engineered for wheels and seats only, then the police still can book you for suspension if it's not standard and not engineered.

and, if ya get a cop in a bad mood, the ywill still issue a defect even if you have the correct engineeres report.
happened to me.
was then told that it is my responsibility to prove its legal, even though i had the papers to prove it.
car passed of course, was just a hassle.

If you go ahead and get it done you can get a list of approved engineers from the RTA. Make sure you do actually as they are the only engineers the RTA put their faith in and will acknowledge as being legit engineers.

Additional mods wont really render it useless but the mods not on the certificate wont be legal.

Dont forget there are a lot of shonky engineers, and it is possible that teh previous owner used one of them, either wllingly or unwillingly.

Look at your rego papers, if teh engineers certificate has been put onto teh rego properly with teh RTA, then there will be some differences on your rego papers.

There will be a section on teh rego label (that goes on your window) that says: Cond: XXXX where the X's relate to certain modification codes.

There will also be a line or two at the very bottom of the rego papers that briefly list the mods.

If you need, reply here or PM me and I'll try to scan mine so you can see what I mean.

Cheers
