Does anybody know if there is a device that makes a sound when you reach a preset rpm? Kinda like those lights on some tachos.

If so where can I buy one of these, and how much do they go for?

Cheers. 8)

Yeah, that's an engine :)

Jaycar sell a kit for a rev limiter / shift indicator, which could have a beeper connected instead of the light.. it's $35.

Otherwise you can get more ricey ones from various places. I haven't seen any lately though so I don't know what the prices are like.

Thanks DumHed.

Has anyone installed one of these things?

Series 4 Rx7's have this feature stock and I've been looking for the same thing for my silvia. I reckon that the beep when you approach redline would be a lot better than a bright shift light.

It'd have to be pretty damn loud!
At redline in my car you don't hear much other than the engine.

thanks fusi0n, they look heaps good.

Dumhed, yeah I haven't really thought about it that way but that's a point. In my mates rx7, the tone is reasonably loud and stays constant till you drop below a certain rpm again. I've always wanted this so you could keep your eyes on the road and not get blinded by a huge light. Also, with the sound of the turbo spooling up, then the warning tone that you are approaching redline, then the release of pressure from the blow off valve then the rubber losing traction on the tarmac and the ass of the car jiggling everywhere, it makes it sound like a performance machine :D
