Well the suggestion has been made and its something I would like to do.

We are thinking of having a SilviaNSW LAN.... for gaming, leeching drift videos and generally a good day for all the geeks

I am thinking depending on the size we might rent a venue, costs per person (depending on peoples turnout) would be around $10 - $15 (probably including some sort of BBQ lunch).

Any other suggestions are welcomed. Looking at anytime after early July.

Coolies, I am in, I should be able to scam so cool stuff from work too.
i.e. Super high res projector, Gigabit Switches, and some spare network cards for ppl that dont have one and are wanting to come along.
Oh and if you dont have virus protection, we will seat you in a quarantine group...jokes

Awesome.... Projecter would be awesome and a switch would save me trying to organise one ( seeing as Netgear took it back ).

I shall speak to you as soon as my exams are over...

Lannage will be aweome, I will have my new PC (160gb), and the server (40gb) to run some game servers.

Thanks for the offer.... my plans are to try and get a bit of a bigger even going... say 20 people or so and then even more that just want to be around and talk cars and stuff....

If its small I could even do it at my place (dunno really) cause having a cable connection would be good

So you can share files with other people at high speed, rather then dialup speeds or even cable speeds for us broadbanders.
Also you can play games over the network.
True it aint for everybody but a heap of fun can be had if it is your thing.
It is also a place where you can learn heaps if this is your intrest.
Even if you are not a tech head or a newbie to computer it would be good to come along, we can connect you up and away you go.

LANS are cool because:
1) Play games at high speed
2) Leech GIGS of kool sh*t off people
3) Abuse the crap outta people in real life cause they play CS
4) Generally muck around and be stupid
5) Waste many hours infront of a screen like a true geek
6) Compete with others to be the ultimate geek, or just embariss yourself in the process.

Do I really have to continue?

yeh i might be in, cept i have an old dodgy p3 hehe.

i can provide small ammounts of gear as well as heaps of projectors too

can also pack the decks if anyone is feeling musical.
