Hi all i just wanted to know what the situation is in regards to gauges .
I have 2 gauges installed in an A piller gauge pod .
Is that defectable ? what can you do thats not regarded as a defect with positioning of gauges ? i heard that any gauges install above the height of the dash can be defected true or fales ?
Thanks

True. Keep them in the dash to be safe

last i checked you can not have anything mounted above the steering line ( top of your steering wheel ) in the line of view ( the rules on this one has changed many times over the years iv had gauges on the bonnet dash etc etc every time i get pulled over its a different story, lulz once i was told my bonnet gauges were in a pedestrian head impact zone haha no kidding ) word on the street is you can usually get away with one gauge mounted at a low point on the a pillar ( i have a 60mm boost gauge on mine and have been stopped by hwy patrol but never asked about it i guess its cool ) 2 gauges or more is prolly asking for it...

then you see people driving around with GPS mounted bang in the middle of the windscreen and the cops wonder why we roll our eyes when they freak out at a couple of small gauges...

it depends whos checking it, a normal copper you SHOULD be ok, but if its at the pits, they take a photo and it is assessed by rta/epa if its legal or not.

Even if the a/market or custom box is enclosed, unless its engineered its still illegal, as it does affect emissions, just depends how much the cop wants to bend you over on the night!
search up, i remember i had this drama before and there was some good info from users.

and yeah pretty sure my engineers has writen my boost controller and so on do not sit higher than the dash or obstruct my vision.
