Apart from the straight line run at the start, all of that could be replicated in a Silvia with 150rwkw. Probably less.

What you really need is a skilled driver.

You got to be kidding me?
I believe that clip was 50% car, 50% driver skills, i'd like to see you try half what he did in a 150rwkw Silvia!

cypher could, he's done it before

all his comments come from years of personal experience

you are such a nub cypher... 150kw couldnt even do that first slide in the vid....
that much angle, and that much corner radius needs that much power to maintain the slide. it aint rocket surgery. an underpowered car would have a tendancy to straighten up....

oh and dont discount the fact that Ken Block is doing all this in an AWD car....

and we wouldnt have to put RBs in silvias if the SR wasnt such a tempramental little girl of a motor...

go back to dinner....

And here's me thinking everyone was putting rb20's in s13's because they were cheaper than sr's, had more power on paper, and JMS did one years ago in HPI...

Glad that one was cleared up for me. I'd have looked like a complete idiot if i had aired my views publicly....

Never discount the influence of a magazine on drifters/morons.

Now, can the rb loving bunch of yokels get over the fact that an rb powered sil cannot turn or handle as well as an sr powered sil and get back on topic because you bunch of fucking 4th graders are really starting to piss me off.

Not lonely at all, your ego is up here keeping me company.

And i agree brett can skid better than all of us, but that doesn't mean his can can turn.

well sir...
weightbalance has just as much influence on a drift car, as when you break it down... good race setup isnt too far off a good drift setup...

weight balance plays a major influence on transitioning and entries... and I havent seen brett have any trouble with that...

im dropping an rb25 in because an SR will no longer do what I want and be reliable, without spending more than the cars worth..

this rb25 conversion, will cost me close to the same amount as it would to rebuild and tune the SR, but I will have 260-270 kw and reliable at that..

anyways... ill worry about weight later. stiffer springs and a little more agression on the GT wing, to counter the extra fat up front, and I dare say the car will turn fine....

My god, that was amazing!!

Doesn't take long for a thread to turn into an all out RB vs SR internet brawl...

How well reaper can drift has nothing to do with what motor he has in the car. Its got to do with how much practice he has had. You morons should find a better argument than that

Is reaper a better drifter than say... Darren Mews or Leighton Fine or Luke Fink? Their cars are SR. Does that end the argument?

I wasn't going to post again, but this is too much fun.

You're exactly right. That was what I meant in my second post:
cypher1024 wrote:
Like I said before, the high speed stuff at the start wouldn't be possible but I don't see much of a problem with the rest.

I should've specifically said that I meant the corners as well as the straight. My bad.

hokkaido wrote:

Once again, I was thinking along similar lines. An S13 wont be able to exactly match some of the crazy shit the WRX can do, but my point was that you could complete that course in a very similar manner in a relatively low powered Silvia. Power is nice, but it isn't everything.

hokkaido wrote:

Again, I can't disagree with you. The SR is a fantastic engine up to a point. It's only a 2 litre, 4 cylinder, so you can't expect enormous numbers and reliability. Everything's a compromise. For you guys shooting for numbers near 300, maybe the handling and weight tradeoff is worth it for the reliability you'll get from an RB25/26. I wasn't bagging the RB in the other thread, I was just trying to make the point that a Silvia with an RB isn't going to be quite as nimble as an SR. But if it does the job and you're happy with it, fantastic.

hokkaido wrote:

Is that a fat joke? Because you really could've done much better.

Mr Bean wrote:

I lol'd. Ok, so there is one RB swap I can't understand.

That was never the point. Like tmb said, the fact that reaper is a fantastic drifter has nothing to do with the argument. It's about as relevant as saying "a fire truck is red". If anything, his skill would mask dull handling.

hokkaido wrote:

I mentioned this in the other thread, but no one took much notice of it. Add swaybars to a good circuit car and dial out some rear camber and you have a drift car. That's why I said that if brett wants to prove that his car handles as well as an SR car, he just has to throw down some comparable laptimes and I'll be more than happy to shut up. I'll stick to my promise to eat a hat. (Maybe now's a good time for another fat joke??)
I think I addressed the rest of your post in one of my comments above. I don't doubt that when you're done with the 25 swap, you'll have a very competitive drift car.

Sigh. School? Unless I start another degree, I doubt I'll be going to back to any kind of school.
Protip: "Cypher got called Sunshine" isn't grammatically correct. Perhaps you should go back to school....

You didn't state a fact though. You made a statement.
The whole point of a forum is that things can be discussed. Admittedly, things can get a little out of hand sometimes but generally discussions elevate all of us.

Edit: Sorry fergo, I was still writing when you made your post.
