So, I have a question! I bought 3 baby HKS gauges off ebay. The two temperature gauges have a brass sender but no hole to carry hot water. As you can see it appears the heat is conducted through a copper wire into the back of the gauge. These wires are within this braided metal material. These are considered mechanical correct? However since these dont carry hot water/oil would they be legal to mount in the cabin (in an approved location)? Im guessing not, but cant think of a good reason..... |

what we think/assume is probably going to be different to what the police think, either way they'll defect you probably. |

mechanical gauges that don't allow fluids into the cockpit are fine. the rules are basically along the lines of no oil, fuel or water past the firewall. Gauges aren't a defectable item unless their placement is illegal. Justin... |

Im hoping I won't. Ive already got some in a DIN slot and they are all covered by a gingerbeering certificate, but they were electrical. Fergo-cheers bud! I did try looking for guidelines on the RTA website etc but couldnt find a damn thing! |
