So, I have a question!

I bought 3 baby HKS gauges off ebay.

The two temperature gauges have a brass sender but no hole to carry hot water. As you can see it appears the heat is conducted through a copper wire into the back of the gauge. These wires are within this braided metal material.

These are considered mechanical correct? However since these dont carry hot water/oil would they be legal to mount in the cabin (in an approved location)? Im guessing not, but cant think of a good reason.....

what we think/assume is probably going to be different to what the police think, either way they'll defect you probably.

mechanical gauges that don't allow fluids into the cockpit are fine.

the rules are basically along the lines of no oil, fuel or water past the firewall.

Gauges aren't a defectable item unless their placement is illegal.

Im hoping I won't. Ive already got some in a DIN slot and they are all covered by a gingerbeering certificate, but they were electrical.

Fergo-cheers bud! I did try looking for guidelines on the RTA website etc but couldnt find a damn thing!
