anyone had after market kits done to their cars?

who? how much? were they good?

just looking into them for now, but id like to get parking sensors, might even buy two kits and do the front too as my garage is pretty short and id have to get in close to the end of the garage.

looking at the reverse sensors, i dont need a wanky LED just beeps are fine. ebay have some decent looking kits. just wondering how good they are compared to higher priced ones.....

thanks!

hmm found this on ebay. did a quick search, a company in Italy makes a brand that ferrari etc use and they can apparently detect walls without metal etc.

http://cgi.ebay.com.au/ws/eBayISAPI.dll ... 0095993895

and the best thing, no drilling!! you dont even know its there. im thinking one for the front and the back

If its just for your garage, Id just hang a piece of string such that when the car is in the right spot, the string touches the base of the A pillar.

Piece of String FTW

There are two types of reversing sensor (maybe more?)

1) electromagnetic - like the one in the link
2) ultrasonic / sonar

The ultrasonic ones will detect non metalic objects such as cement walls, trees etc...

Mine was aftermarket, got cruise control with the car, works great and it's in good use when travelling to Wakefield. It was done through some audio and sound shp in Brookvale.

thanks im thinking of buying myself and doing a DIY! i think with the new drive-by-wire nissans you can use the factory motorised throttle with the cruise control module!

ultimately id LOVE to have the factory cruise control. its the smart laser guided one that adjusts the speed depending on the car in front of you

its a handy feature!!

turns out there is a guy on SAU that can get the factory buttons and have them talk to an aftermarket cruise control kit. so im set there

i also ended up getting 2 sets of parking sensors, front and rear. no drilling!! yay!
