hahah i dodgeyd the first car, cut the water lines and use some fuel hose untill i could get braided hoses. needed 2 clamps on each end of the cut. worked fine tho!! went down to canberra (took my ENTIRE) tool set with me just in case. didnt miss a beat :)

then i drove it to coffs harbour and installed the braided lines lol

You can always totally eliminate the gasket to stop it blowing..

Weld you Turbo to your Manifold & seal it the whole way round.. you'll never have a gasket blow again..
Granted.. you may never get your turbo off your manifold though...Unless your prepared to attack it with an angle grinder..

I've had my studs tack welded to the nuts to stop the nuts from slipping due to vibration.. worked a treat :D

guess u could just buy a new manifold and turbo if anything did happen.
can u do that with the dump pipe gasket too?

You can always get the turbo off the mani using a grinder.. Thats how I once seperated my tack welded nuts/studs

Im sure you could get the bolts tacked to stop them from coming loose.. just be sure you don't want to change your dump/turbo any time soon

I did the whole thing myself, was a noob 2 it all, and ended up removing everything from the manifold 2 the dump pipe out in one block, I broke it up and replaced what needed replacing and put it back... It took me from 11am to 9pm... Most of the time was lost due to not knowing what to move out of the way (coolant hose intake to the block, abs unit, egr etc), losing a banjo washer down somewhere in the subframe, and getting the STUPID banjo's back on... All in all, it's not a tough or tricky job... Just time consuming and back breaking... If I had to do it again, should be able to do it in a good set of hours...

I went zealous when it came to using loctite, although it melts at those temps, I made sure I used a crap load and I did up those bolts TIGHT... Used a breaker bar on the suckers.... I don't want that sucker blowing EVER again...
