Description/History:
For some years now the NSW RTA have been charging a Annual Fee for Standard, Personalised and Personalised Plus Number Plates.

NSW is one of the only states in Australia to have a Annual Fee on number plates. These Fee's Range from $70 to $500 per year.

Mission:
This Petition is to assist The NSW RTA to eliminate the Annual Fee of Standard, Personalised and Personalised Plus Number Plates, by showing the greater number of support against their fee.

There is no reason to have a annual fee on these plates.

This will include past and present Standard, Personalised and Personalised Plus Number Plate Holders.

I admire your drive to try and petition for something that will somewhat benefit enthusiasts, but there's no way in hell they'll go for it.

anything that takes money AWAY from the RTA's coffers will be rejected.

the whole reason they brought the extra fees in for custom plates in the first place was because every man and his dog was ordering them because the fees WERE once-off.
they'd change something on their car,and would get another plate made...
it's both a money grab and a way for them to discourage flippant plate changes.

We pay more for everything in NSW. Why are number plates going to be any different?
a petition with a million signatures on it won't discourage them. if there's money involved, they won't budge. you don't HAVE TO have custom plates after all, they don't affect how the car runs,or how they track you.
when it comes to the RTA,it's pay,or piss off, simple as that.

I agree with Fergo.
Why would they scrap this fee?
It's like asking the government to stop putting tax on fuel and cigarettes inorder to make them cheapr for the consumer. Not, going, to, happen.

As cool as some personalised plates are I really can't justify paying a yearly fee for one. If anything this fee is good because it may reduce the number of variations of plates saying (or trying to say with dodgy spelling) "exquisit" and other stupid plates like that which reflect the wanker owner more than the car. But each to their own....

While you do raise a good point, There should be no annual fee on generic plates. We are forced to wear them, we shouldnt have to pay for the privilege on top of that. Custom plates I understand the fees, but not for standard plates. next thing you know theyll be charging us for regular rego stickers too.
