Hey all,
The problem of car theft in the Maquarie area is out of control.
My car was stolen from the shopping centre car park earlier this year and i was thankfull to get it back, but as time has gone on i have seen more and more car thefts in this area, especially the shopping centre and the Maq uni carpark..
i had a phone call from my friend today who walked back to his Integra at the uni car park, only to find two big blokes in his car trying to get it started, they were very professional. they were wear headlamps, and had bags full of drills and all that shit.. as soon as my friend turned up they bailed and jumped into a car and sped off, my friend did manage to get the number plate.. he found a pen sized hole just next to his lock, this is presumably how they got in..
thank god they didnt steal it, but he called the cops as it was happening and they still hadnt shown up half an hour later..
my mate spoke to security at the uni and they informed him that 3 cars had been stolen from the carpark today.
i just cant belive these people that do this.. i mean seriously, work hard for your shit. how hard can it be. i worked for 3 years to save up for my cars...

sorry about the rant, but i think its time something was done about this..
just dont know what...

I go to Macquarie too, so it's a big worry for me. I always use a club lock, but that only delays them.

Fuckin scum bags.

It sucks and it is agrowing trend everywhere. My friend's gf parked her car (DC5R) outside syd uni in lidcombe and when she came back the people cracked her windows and stole the type r seats, but not the car.

For me personally I am thinking of getting something like quiktrac or something like that now. I have been delaying it off for such a long time but with the increase of people reporting cars getting stolen, may have to take extra measure.

Well actually - motor theft is down the past 2 years, but stealing from a motor vehicle is up.

Interesting read.

Well it doesn't take the average crack head long to figure out the net value of a modified import's or work vehicles interior.
Decent set of guages, 300-600, stereo, 250-up-up, amplifier, same as stereo, sub box, can be kind of pricey too, GPS, 300-1000, mobile phone sometimes, about the same as a GPS.
Tools, can cost quite a bit, heck I've even had these knob gobblers steal a $40 fire extinguisher...

But, even if they only get 10% of the items worth, its still fairly much free money as the cops don't bother chasing them for it (not when they can be busy defecting people) or doing much of search as chances are, the item isn't engraved or a serial number provided, so it never gets found and disappears out the back of a pub or hock shop.
