fair enough. I used to regularly boil the fluid in my 86's P/s on a long, hard drive,as it didn't run any form of factory cooler. it never overflowed.
I can't say I've ever seen it on any other car before either, but hey, doesn't mean it can't I suppose. the sock is cheap form of insurance.
or an expensive one if you want to go for a brand name sexy cover...

enclosed in a box that doesnt let air in from the engine bay.

if it was 'covered' it wouldnt be able to suck in air at all!

do you have an FMIC?? if you dont, wait till you get one before you make the box becuase some pipes will move around.

it'll certainly work better if there is one,but it's not essential. be careful of it's placement as well. sucking up a puddle of water on a wet day is a good way to kill your engine.

yeah i guess they are not going to say it is completely legal as some cops may say it isnt legal cause its not stock or it doesnt have 4 sides.

I doubt it's legal, but it'll probably avoid some defects for you.
I've had power steering overflow on occasion, either through boiling or just violent driving.
It's not super rare to get a drift car bouncing over some pretty nasty terrain (and spilling shite everywhere) so it's good to stop spillage.
