You might know that around 1990 imported turbo-charged cars [...] dominated the racing at Bathurst and in 1993 a new racing class was created which effectively banned Nissan's GT-Rs from competition.

Now, in 2008 Nissan's new Godzilla-based racer dominated the first round of the Japanese GT series so now some Japanese commentators are predicting that the GT organisers will impose limitations on the GT-R.

Discuss? :)

PS: be sure to check out the Nissan GT-R GT500 test video (linked from the Top Gear article), because it sounds awesome.

Its hyperbole. JGTC has always had performance restrictions on successful cars.

Winning cars were given ballast to even out the field and keep racing "close". It wasn't done as a reactionary thing, if I remember correctly the field was "paritied" after every event. When the GT-R stops winning due to carrying too much ballast, they'll take it away.

Unless they removed the rules from SuperGT to comply with FIA rules, this has been done since forever.
