I have sourced an S14 SR20DE, auto, with cut loom and ECU.

I am arranging for this to be delivered to the workshop.

Mechanic is going to swap the engine. Wiring will either be done by Magnet or Sideshow's Performance Wiring (if he fucks up).

Questions:

1. My S13 SR20DE gearbox will bolt right up to the S14 engine right? No modifications or custom bits required?
2. I'm running the S13 ECU with S14 loom, and the VCT on a switch. Is this going to be feasible?
3. We have to swap the dizzy, coil, ignitor, plug leads, 1 wire coolant temp sensor, coolant temp sensor loom, knock sensor loom, FICD and AAC solenoid rear halves, alternator and starter wiring...is that it?
4. The S13 water pump should work fine shouldn't it?

Any other advice or opinions?
Edit: of course I am a mechanical noob, in case you hadn't sussed it already.

you'll need an S13 loom if you're running the S13 ECU.

Yeah, pretty much just disconnect the loom and drop the engine out, so it's all there ready for me to connet back up to the 14DE :) . Should be pretty easy then.

As i sent you the message about sideshow performance wiring. i had a talk with them and it seems they have done alot of these conversions.
PLMS have also done these. Magnet and dumhed would be the best to work with or do it since they are g0ds with this sort of setup.

i think the flywheel is different. but im not 100% shure

4. The S13 water pump should work fine shouldn't it?
yes. but i've found that the sr20de s13 pump impeller shaft to be differnet from a s14/15 blacktop vct shaft.

I don't really want to discuss it much, but it is pretty much getting put in for free.

To their credit, the workshop has been very helpful in trying to resolve this situation.

Car finally goes in to the workshop tomorrow.

Setup will be:

S14 SR20DE
S13 ECU
S13 loom (customised to suit S14 SR20DE engine)
VCT function on a switch

According to dumhed, I need to swap over the:

CAS
Coils
Ignitor + plug leads
Coolant temp sensor
Knock sensor loom
FICD and AAC solenoid rear halves
Alternator and starter wiring

Anything else?

Cheers,
Pete

Well the engine went in today...

I only had time to go to the workshop twice and help out a little bit, but there is already a slight problem!

Two of the water hoses don't line up right. It is difficult to describe without a picture. They are in a completely different spot on the S14 SR20 as they were on the S13 SR20...

what the?

I think they were...being a nub, I was a tad confused.

It may be possible for one to be adapted to fit, but the other is nowhere near! :(

They are on the battery side of the engine, near running towards the firewall along the block.

On the S13 SR20 I believe they are on the other side.
