OK i was at a work function last night, the BF of one of the girls there was talking to me and it got to cars, he said he has a pulsar or exa or something. and he was dead set telling me he has a RWD SR20DET from an S13 in his FWD nissan.

i told him it was impossible, someone tell me i was right.

he said 'they are the same motor' and all you have to do is use the FWD engine mounts. and he also mentioned that the TB would bolt on the other end of the plenum. imnot sure what drug he was on but last time i checked the intake manifold was cast and didnt have a plate on the opposite end to 'convert' it to FWD.

if it was that easy why isnt every kid with a few $$$ converting his pulsar or exa.

ohh he said CA18s were the same. i quote 'nissan wouldnt spend millions on making an engine then spend more to make it FWD'

he was going to show me pics, but conveniently they werent on his phone. oh and apparently ALL nissan TBs will bolt up to each other. i wanted to smack him out bigtime!

It's maybe possible with a CA18, but the bits definitely don't just swap over on an SR.

The RWD SR block doesn't have the mounting points in it for the FWD engine mounts, and there are various other differences.

He probably has a bluebird SR, and is confused by the red top.

Yeah CAs for some reason are basically identical fwd and rwd (even the plenums have mounting points on both ends for the TB).
SRs....
Either way you'd have to be mad to use a rwd SR in a fwd, the fwd ones are cheap as...

ahh see the CA i couldnt confirm. but i was sceptical, anyway looks like he probably had a CA conversion and thought that was an SR20 because they both have red tops. i always get confused :P to me they look the same........not!

Probably a red-top out of a GTiR, about the only thing I can think of being able to shoe-horn in there with the bits all facing the right way.

Normal fwd SR should fit as well, doesn't have to be GTiR version.

You should have asked him if he was going out with the chick because he wasn't ready to come out of the closet, then.

Tell him to embrace his FWD driving homosexuality, then.
