This has been written up before on many of the GSM forums...

Ingredients

1 x Nokia N73 (change product code and update to the latest Music Edition firmware for stereo AD2P bluetooth headphones).
1 gig memory (2 gig preferably)
1 car charger (the backlighte chews)
Software with Australian maps (Nokia maps are free and easy to install but you must subscribe for voice guidance. Visual guidance is free. Route 66 and TomTom 6 are other options you can find on torrent sites. I have all 3 installed.)
1 x Holux 236 bluetooth GPS reciever (cost 95 bucks inc delivery and 2 week wait from china.) You receive a battery (its an aftermarket nokia battery), USB cable that doubles as a charger and a CD.

Install the software on the N73, pair the bluetooth and your done.

Tomtom on the N73 works great with the buitl-in loud speakers. Its easy to use with search and POI.

The holux 236 has 10 hr battery life and uses a nokia battery. Most GPS need to 'see' the sky, the holux can be stuffed in the glove compartment and was able to pick up 10 satelites (u only need 3). Its easy to pair and very small.

I want to test the N73 and tomtom on my bike via voice and headphones. The instructions seem clear and the re-routing is very fast.

You can download maps from europe and go on holidays without asking for directions.

Finally, GPS signals will be always be for free...

one thing i got stung by;

do NOT upgrade to V4 firmwares on the N73. nokia have fucked up the BT stuff and it wont talk to many BT GPS recievers. mine included, and no you cant go back in firmware :(

so watch out IF you decide to upgrade, google your model of GPS and make sure its working ok with your N73. some other N series phones are affected too.
