Hi everyone,

I got defected yesterday on my way home from the petrol station.

They defected me for the usual stuff BOV, POD filter and zaust. I have all these stock but i dont have the standard intercooler.

Any one out there have one with all piping in the western sydney region. that i can either borrow or if need be buy.

i have a Standard MR2 intercooler, would this work?

Also im pretty sure the intercooler goesunder the passengr side wheel. Can any one confirm this. or even better know where i can find some installation instructions. :D

Only if it falls off.

I would have thought you could get a defect cleared even with a front mount cooler...

well on the defect slip is says intercooler does not comply. I really didnt think it was an issue, im guessing it has something to do with the fact that it is in front of the radiator supports.

I dont think anyone will clear it if i just leave the intercooler on. but then you see cars like the evo with a standard front mount.

Also but under the wheel i mean inside the wheel gaurd near the air box. But im not entirely sure where it would mount

Might be worth taking it to blueslip guy as-is. You might still get passed.

How is the cop to know whether things comply? You are guilty till proven innocent in their eyes.

it might be worth while trying, but im limited on time, they only gave me 2 days to clear them before i cannot drive the car, and after that only drive the car to the place where i can get teh defects clear. So if i get caught driving on a sunday or saturday night i dont know how that will go down.

Were you doing something silly at the time or was the cop an asshole? 2 days seems very unreasonable for things so minor

thats what i thought, i wansnt doing anything wrong, i just pulled out of the petrol station and he was sitting on the side of the road and then pulled me over and said he heard a Blow off valve vent into the atmosphere, he must have pretty good ears considering i didnt go past 3000rpm

the officer was young adn i think he was on a bit of a power trip, he also gave me two infringments for the BOV and air filter. i was really annoyed about that.

Bad Luck dude.. i also only had a couple of days on mine to get it cleared too, was for POD + Zaust, first ever infringement, wasn't even doin nethin wrong, was on the way home from one of our SNSW picnics... =(

Just had some bad luck, you managed to get a cop on a power trip wanting to feel like a big man... i asked the place next to my work when i seen this topic and asked em if they would clear a defect still even with the front mount on, and they said "No hope, we do it all by the book here" soo, hope your luck is with ya when u go to get them cleared man..

Either that or go whak on the standard side-mount..

yeah i have managed to get a intercooler from ZEI, i rather just get the standard intercooler on there and get it passed.

This is the first time i have been pulled over in this car. i only put the BOV in there last thursday. Atlest they didnt get me for having eboost 2 mounted in the pillar. i really would of been upset if i had to remove that.

Kind of sucks, there are all these new recruits floating around the street now, just got their badges, and done their paperwork time, and now suddenly there is a massive influx of arseholes on powertrips floating around.

I was pulled over a few years ago for taking a corner sideways in my 180sx, only had it for 3 hours.

When I picked it up, the tires where bald, and the only reason I took delivery was because I needed a car.

Anyway, came around a corner, the arse slide out as it had started raining, and all of a sudden I was pulled over by highway patrol.

He started at me with an attitude, and I appologised, handed him the purchase paperwork, toldhim I was sorry, wasn't used to the car, and was extreamly annoyed that my tires at the rear where bald, and needed replacing already.

He told me to take the car home tonight, get the tires sorted out and go see my LAC, and be very careful, it was slippery on the roads, and my tires would only make things worse.

We got to talking about how dodgey importers are snaking the system and getting away with releasing dangerous cars onto the roads, yet other importers where doing their best to provide only quality, and that was it, no problems.

This guy was in the force for 22 yrs, knew his stuff, and was a great person to deal with.

I have had encounters with others wanting to RBT me, and threatening defects, in the end not booking me, but making my life a missery in the process.

Some cops are great, some are cunts, it all depends on their maturity level, nOObs tend to be cock suckers in the first 6 months.

B.

Hi everyone, yeah everything is back to stock now, it all came together quite well. i finished it last night about 10:30.

It wasnt as much work as i thought. Now that the aftermarket intercooler is out, i have a big gap and a hole through where the battery sits. Do you think they will pass it with this or should i just put a bigger battery in there for the time being.

Also a Big thanks to ZEi... You a champion, the intercooler works great. everything went to gether fine.
