Post subject:  Where to mount fire extinguisher?

Hey guys, I got my hands on an extinguisher and a bracket for it, so I took it out to the car to have a look for some possible places to mount it... keeping a few things in mind:
1. Must be in my reach while in drivers seat
2. Must not get in the road of my legs while driving (or the passenger TOO much :P )
3. I dont want it in the road of either seat if mounted on the floor.
4. I dont want to have to reach back behind me or the passenger seat to get to it.

What do you recommend? Where is yours located?

My thoughts: On floor right in front of either seat, Passenger side of centre console, or snug between the floor and wher it goes verticle to meet the bottom or the door trim.

Im open to any suggestions - or things to keep in mind such as CAMS rules/regulations (I have no idea what they are)

Sorry for the long post, but any help is MUCH appreciated!

-Mitch

I like them on the hump between the two rear seats (assuming theres no back seat), as you can reach back easily to get it from there, without twisting your torso. Otherwise, in the passenger footwell, attached to the transmission tunnel wall.

thread resurrection!

thought id bring this back, rather than start a new one. ill be getting a fire extinguisher soon, as i need it for a super sprint.

just seeing if anyone has any pics of where they have mounted theirs?

also, what is everyone using and where did they get it from?

im thinking about a dry chemical one, like 1kg, or 1.5kg.
should i get one with a hose or without?

thanks :D

Just ake sure you get a metal bracket one not plastic or cams wont be happy.

best place in an S14 or S15 is the mounting bolt for the rear lower seat squab.

drill a hole in the centre of the bracket, pull out the N/S bolt, ffit the bracket, and you're done! easy to get to from the driver's seat and cams legal. they specify being in reach from the sitting in the seat only, you don't need to reach it with your harness still on...
