Off late people have been receiving e-mail from E-Bay asking them to login to update their billing details, or their account will be cancelled.

This is like the commbank and westpak scams, where mirror sites are site up, and when you log in using your e-bay details, they now have those datails so they can use them to purchase things.
If you enter in your credit card details they now have these and can be used anywhere they like.

Dear valued eBay member,

It has come to our attention that your eBay billing updates are
out of order. If you could please take 5-10 minutes out of your
online experience and update your billing records you will not run
into any future problems with the online service.

Once you have updated your account records your eBay session will not be
interrupted and will continue as normal. Failure to update will result in
cancellation of service, Terms of Service (TOS) violations or future billing
problems.

I got this e-mail sent to my work address which is not the address I use for e-bay. Be warned if you have followed this link, I would suggest you login and change your password ASAP, to the real e-bay website.
Better safe then sorry.

Here are some links of the fraud alerts:

Yep, I've recieved more than 10 of those emails..
Lately I've been recieving a few from the so called "Paypal" telling me that they are checking their systems and that you'll have to sign in or else your "Paypal" account will be deleted.. eh nuffin wrong wif making a new one if it is a genuine mail.

I just use my theory for everything from Paypal to Ebay to Banks, etc.. There's ABSOLUTELY no reason why they would need your password or details, they would/should have it backed up some where if they needed.

BECAREFUL PPL..
