as in going to the shop for smokes?

I've seen a guy get done DUI and drive whilst disqualified after having just been done for DUI and having been suspended not two months before and even after having been put through a re-education program and such,and knowing he was both pissed and unlicensed,he still got in the car and drove because he ran out of ciggies and the shop was 'just 5min down the road'. is that an extreme motive?
