What's with speed 'bumps' in some shopping centres?

My local shopping centre has speed 'bumps' that run from on side of the parking lot to the other and there is no way around them, even when there is no one there but you.

And i know that if my car is low, i kinda deserve to scrape on them if i don't take them at a bizaare angle but when my stock datsun scrapes on the big ones??!!

Surely there are some laws concerning how big speed bumps can be because they are damaging our cars no matter how little.

You dont see me running through the shopping centres nicely buffed floors dragging a bob sled do you?

yeh the local westfields has the same mofo's on the rooftop parking area, hate when you cant just drive around them eh..

if your concerned about any damage, talk to the centre management - not that they would do anything.

The worst ones are those checker plate steel ones... They are really short but sharp and high...
I have stock suspension at the moment and it still scrapes

Whats even worse is the 4wd drive soccer mums that hammer over them and the whole car park shakes while they are doing it..... :-?
Makes you wonder. :-?

Yeah, I scrape my car on those checker plate steel ones on the roof at Chatswood's Westfields too. I've got a stock ride height (which admittedly isn't very high) and there's one (on top of the actual shopping center, near the lift area) where I'll always scrape.

Honestly, its like those fuckwits at Westfields think that everyone drives a 4WD so they can make the speed humps as huge as possible. With the soft suspension and high ride height, its not as if some guy in a 2 ton 'cruiser has to slow down for those things anyway.

see what i mean!! All you guys with STANDARD ride height are still scraping!!

Surely the law must protect us against this somehow.

I think we would present a pretty strong case if I drove my datto over the big checker plate one on the roof of westfields liverpool and video taped it.

bastards

The problem is that you need someone with deep pockets to fund legal action against Westfields if you damage your car on their property. They do have disclaimers at the door, and so you need an expensive lawyer to argue duty of care etc.

Maybe if we can get some rich car lover to rip the bottom end out of his Porsche / Ferrari in a carpark, they can set a precedent for us.
