Hi All,

Quiet often i am driving really late at night/early morning and am frequently targeted by police for little things for no reason at all.

e.g Chased by Wagon and pulled over for breath test, another time for checking licence, another time near my home just to check if the car was stolen...

Do you guys get this sort of thing happening much?

The cops are normally 'pretty polite' and fast...just makes me feel like i'm doing something wrong and being targeted. I am not sleepy, swerving between lanes or anything like that...cruising a long at the speed limit like a nice young man.
:)

...would love to hear if this happens to others.

P.S I live near North Ryde and this normally happens around Lane Cove, Darlinghurst, Double Bay, Cremone, Concord..just to name a few places it's happened in the past 8 months (guessing).

Payam

Yeah it happens occasionally.

The cops have a job to do and those times of night there are a lot of inebriated or unlicensed drivers and stolen cars on the road.

It is a minor inconvenience but a quick "Good evening sir, blow into the bag, show us your licence, have a good night" doesn't do any real harm. Besides, they could be pulling someone up who has just stolen your car.

True, that's exactly the kind of stop i'm talking about.

One time i was driving about 20km/hr on the way back from a minor incident which left me with 2 flat tyres, i was riding my chromies home flat. The cops pulled me over just to see my licence to check if the car was stolen. Thought it was pretty goood actually.

A reminder, don't drive around too slow in a Silvia, will arouse suspision.
:)

yeah I get that too.....PAyam

I live near north ryde as well....and constanly get that outside the bus stop of Mac Centre, back of the uni, Eastwood, Lane Cove, Chatswood west.

I think some of them actually getting to know my car now.
It is definetly a good thing (in a way). It has always been quick stop too.

Always polite and to the point..."this is just a random stop sir. have you been drinking?" at one time I actually had a convo with them to see why this is happen so often suddenly.

Aparantly there has been many many case of break-in inside the Mac Centre parking lots and back area of Eastwood/carlingford area of late. I had 2 friends who lost there cars in Mac Cent myself. I now drive my sis's car when I can to watch movie of shopping there.

So I appreciate these type of checks as long as they dont search my car for no reason. Just glad that on the north shore they are not as anal as they are in say Brighton-le-sand....if you know what I mean!

Most of them around the N-Ryde/Chatswood area arent too bad if youre not doing anything real stupid, it gets annoying being tailed though when all you want to do it get from work and back home. Especially as I do a lot of shift work, so I guess its one of those things.

Ive told a few to just beat the hell out of anyone in my car thats driving it and isnt me ;)

I live out near Bankstown and have had quite a few "License please sir" talks. Most are pretty easy going and explain the car looks nice and are wondering what its doing in the area. Do a check and off I go.

I take it as a bit of reassurance that if it does get stolen it may get picked up on a random check

I dont know what you guys are doing?! Ive been driving around the north ryde area for just on 2 years now with my car and i have never once had any hint of police problem.

I also often drive through known spots (ie: Penrith etc) and have never had one spot of bother since i purchased my lovely vehicle. There has got to be something that you guys are doing that im not.

ROFL.. I was cruisin around Narrabeen [?] late one night [left a boring party for a drive]... anyways.. paddy wagon follows me for 2kms [or so].. Decides to pull me over...
"Could you please blow into this [the breathalizer ok guys!]..ok..Licence please..." Comes back..
"Thanks mate... We just heard that a blue car with a big wing [had the C-West Twing at the time] broke into a factory so we needed to check you out"
Rofl.. funniest thing I've heard..
But they were cool..

I used to get pulled over alot when I drove the R32
One time i got followed by a red commodore for about 10 minutes. Pulled up at a red light, when the light went green, i saw a red light flashing in the commodore. I pulled over, the guy came up to me and said it was a random breath test (how is it random when you've been followed for 10 minutes and there are no other cars on the road?).
Anyway, I passed the breath test and he checked out my license. He then asked if it was my skyline (nah, it was stolen, derr) and when i said it was mine he was like, yeah, i pulled you over because you went through the artarmon industrial area and lots of skylines go through there to avoid the police. I said "i though you said you pulled me over for a random breath test?", he just said good night and walked off.
I understand why the look out for high-performance cars etc, but i wasn't doing anything wrong at all and he saw that by following me all that time.

I often go though that part of Artarmon on my way home also and there's always a coppa lurkin around. Same with around Lane Cove late at night.

Basically as Zei said it best, think it was on another thread, most of the people on the road late at night are trouble. Sometimes it's good to be pulled over for a quick check, in case your car is stolen it's normally after 2am i've been told (plenty of time for a getaway) so glad at times if it's a friendly and quick check, but i had a Mirage before my S15 and i always drove late at night, 3 years i had that car, NEVER got hasseled by cops..it was riced up too, looked mean but never got the cops attention.
