Exactly, hence why I was bringing up all those worst case scenarios. Fucking a set of chrome rims, as bad as that is, is still cheaper than bending the bodywork, or someone's body. And cheaper / easier to repair.

Tough break, dude. Just do what I do, and give those Dunnydore drivers a wide berth if the road isn't as straight and wide as Epping Road out near The Ranch :)

Sorry to hear about your stack, Payam!

Anyways, why are you paying crazy prices for crappy tyres?
Get a set of Pirellis P6's 235/45R17 for about $229.00 each from JAX Tyres, fitted and balanced! They also have good prices for Pirelli P7000SS's!
Also try Eastwood Tyres and Australias Best Tyre retailers!

Cheers!

Aaarrrrrrrgggggh!
Worst tyres ever!!!!!

I was given the hard sell on those by a tyre shop and I actually took them back and exchanged them for some Azenis ST115s after finding that my coilover equipped Silvia now handled like a clapped out commodore!

Back on the topic of crashing - that particular corner is not one I'd recommend taking at 20km/h over the limit, with other cars in the adjacent lane!

Due to the shape of the road most people completely mess up the line through the corner and end up wandering into the left lane. It always happens - which is why I make sure I'm never coming up behind someone faster that they're going, and try not to be beside anyone at all in that spot.

Hi,

I found out the info on the Tyres i'll be getting:
Sumitomo HTRZII (this is the best the company makes apparently)
They have a alliance with Goodyear and Dunlop to share factories or something like that.

The Tyres are not that bad, found out the EXACT price is $240 for the front tyres (18" 235's) and $300 for the rears (18" 265's).

I have found some reviews and info on the tyres.

Info: http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp ... l=HTR+Z+II

Review on these tyres by many people:
http://www.carreview.com/Tires/Sumitomo ... px#reviews

I'm getting them From Australia's Best Tyre Service in Lakemba/Canturbery. I thought for the price i would give it a go considering for a set of 4 it was going to cost me about $1080 where a set of my favorite Continental ContiSport Tyres woulda cost me $2000. Worth a shot!...i'll let you all know how it goes.

Only thing i'm worried about is these tyres don't have much wheel/rim protection bumper...oh oh.
:)

Thanks for the info and tips.
Payam

DumHed, if you have had bad experience with Pirelli tyres, fair enough, but MYS15T is pretty happy with his P7000's.

Personally I have had good experience with Michelin tyres.
Had them on 3 different cars and they were the best tyres I've
experienced in all weather conditions. They grip well in the wet and dry, give nice ride and are pretty quiet!

So, if you can afford them, Michelin Pilot Sport PS2 are the best!
The trick is, getting them at an affordable price!

Cheers! :D

yeah, P7000, and P6000 for that matter seem to be quite good, but the P6 is being sold as a similar tyre, where in reality it's very different - and is not a sports tyre at all.

I got my Sumitomo HTRZII Tyres yesterday and replacement 2 left chrome rims.

I thrashed my car yesterday and this morning took it for a spin down the drive from where Burkinhead Point shopping center (NSW) is, drive down along the bay (canada bay?) and down past Rodd Point coming out in habberfield...awesome tyres!

These baby's are fantastic, as you all know - there's nothing like when u get new tyres but these baby's are soft as hell and fantastic! Great sticking power..only bad thing about these tyres which i read about before i got them is, hard fast turning (like a u-turn bend at 90) will cause loud SCREACHING sounds.

So any1 looking to get new tyres, for now..these tyres i would give the 2 Thumbs up. Good value.

I got 235's for $240 and 265's for $300 from Australia's best tyre service in Lakemba yesterday.

:)
