im going to do a dumhed turbo mod on my car and i have been testin some a few FMIC they have been hooked up to cool my air feed with seonsors on each side as well as a ambient temp sensor. so we can work out which one will work the bes. i also have a custom hack to my air filter box, take the lid off yep i have a stock air filter, take that out and you see it does jack shit cause i have a plate stoping the air from flowing, from the bottom of the air box i have a pipe going to the inner guard and it sucks air in from the wheel arch.
Anyway the person that called me a ricer was driving a a Daewoo that was mocked up to be a WRX.

So who is the ricer ?

hhehehe

are you testing the coolers on the n/a engine?

cos you won't know how they perform until you have actual pressure going through.

The purpose of an intercooler is to cool down an air charge that is higher than the ambient temperature.

I don't know how you think this test will show anything, all you are doing is sucking ambient temp air into one end of an intercooler, trying to cool it with more ambient temp air Do you think this process will cool the air below ambient? All it is doing is causing a restriction in your intake system

or maybe i'm confused as to what you are trying to do.

Dumhed yep on a NA engine, i have got a bit of pressure going through it not much but so far the best result is a 1OC drop in temp so that looks like it will be the one i use.

Nebuchernezzer no its not the factory one, but its the same model just a bit older, He has pulled all the badges of it and put on WRX stickers. he tried to tell me that it was a wrx i asked him how come i cant here the BOV, he says cause i took it out, i go i cant even hear your turbo spool up, then i say you can get NA BOV's on the net and walk away, i wonder how long till he gets one

I'd be more worried about the flow if they're all pretty large coolers.

It's very hard to know what will work the best until you have the final setup and then do back to back tests.

The best bet beforehand is probably just to compare the designs of the coolers, and the dimensions.

Whichever cooler gives the largest internal surface area, with the largest internal cross section (ie, how large / how many tubes there are) will give the best performance.

Also, don't select a cooler based solely on cooling ability if it'll mean that you need more complex piping, tight bends, or the cooler can't mount in a nice location for air flow from the front.

Anything reasonably sized, with nice end tanks, and well set up piping will perform well on the n/a turbo setup.

Who cares if a ricer thinks you're a ricer.

Just mess with his mind for a bit then walk away. Tell him a pre cooler does wonders for performance and an atomo bov will give him 10kw and wait for him to go broke :)

Yeah, honestly why would someone drive a car thats an imitation of another car. I suppose its acceptable for someone to drive an imitation of a lambhourgini or something. And for the price of a Daewoo you could almost buy an old, 2nd hand, stock WRX, wait a minute... no you couldn't.

I think I'd rather drive my POS Pulsar than a POS Daewoo that's trying to look like a WRX.
I reckon WRXs are ugly as any way, although I am yet to see one of these Daewoo imitations, which I am sure look even worse
