To cut a long story short, I've been on 12 months good behaviour bond (I elected to do this so I wouldn't have to serve a 6 month suspension for a previous post entitled "double demerit points"). I rang the RTA when I got defected a couple of weeks ago and they had said my bond was over. I got caught speeding in my work van today in silverwater and the cops computer shows that the bond expires on 29/11/03. (I got caught 27/11/03, 2 days before the bond ends apparently)

I'm calling the RTA tomorrow to confirm the bond dates. I can't find my original paperwork but I swear it was September, and I am 100% sure the person at the RTA told me it was finished but I have nothing in paper so I can't prove it.

Really don't know what to do at this stage. I thought I had done everything by the book and I'm pretty sure if you are caught during a good behaviour bond you will get 12-24 months loss of licence.

I checked with the RTA, they said it's definitely november.

I doubt there will be any court appearance, wouldn't they tell me that when I got booked?

I will just wait until they send me the reminders and then pay them and see if they go through or not.

nah they don't tell ya shit,

if there's a court appearance required you'll get a Summons letter,

and you have the option of electing to go to court or whatever

i would go speak to a Chamber Magistrate, tell him everything, and he'll tell you all your possible options

Regardless or whether you lose your licence or not, i think you must take a serious look at your driving mentality.

You were on a probation, and even though you might have been told incorrect information, you shouldnt have been speeding anyway, it shows that you have not learnt anything from prior punishments.

It will take a very understanding magistrate to let you off, but in saying that, i have seen far worse offences let off with nothing more then a slap on the wrists.

Nismodified,

I know how bad it may look, but honestly I rarely ever drive very fast at all. Both times when I got caught I was only driving at a speed which I thought was safe. Most of the time I drive on or even below the speed limit, the only times I have been caught is if I have been accelerating up the road from a standing start. I would not be continuing this speed all the way up the road. I believe driving through traffic fast and cutting lanes, etc is very dangerous and not the way I drive.

I did learn my lesson from the previous offence and I was taking it very easy. It was just that split second where I didn't think about my speed as no other cars were around to keep a pace with. I didn't feel like I was going fast and I certainly wasn't trying to drive fast, but when I saw the cop car I looked down at the speedo and it said 80.
