Hi All,

Just curious, what kind of speed is 'normal' for your daily driving..curious what everybody's standards are.

e.g If it's 60Km/Hr do you drive 70 or 80..or more and do it ALL the time?
or if it's 80, do you cruise at 90 or 100...

I would be interested to know, I always had my 'Persian Speed Limit' of 10 Over the Legal limit but some 'friend' of mine sometimes cruises around at 120 as his LIMIT at any time in suburban streets.

I recently read that if you go over 30 or 40 Km/hr over the limit that you can loose your licence and cop a big fine and even jail! EEK!...scary.

P.S Speeding is wrong and i suggest you always drive like u've got your granny in the back holding easter eggs.
*wink*

I would love to hear your comments.

Payam

P.S Cops are always following me around, damn exhaust..they hear a BLAST from a traffic light and decide to stop what they are doing just to follow me...so i pop my dvd down, cruise at the speed limit and they will eventually go away around 2 mins later...they always seem to follow me around and they turn their lights off so they think i can't see them about 20m behind me...i always spot them, they need a new plan..catch some REAL criminals.

fact

when i was busted for speeding, the 30-45km over was 1 month and the 45+ was 3 months. ive had both. both are not good.

generally i sit at around 5km over the limit. sometimes as much as 10 in higher speed areas like 100 and 110 zones.

if any police officers read this. the above line is a lie :)

hahah lol i know how you feel payam, i try to cruise at 5km/h less than wotsign says, since now my points are only 2 left.
i live in the west, near mt druitt, so cops pulling you over are becoming a common chore, an the common questions are "where are you guys off to" or "hav you had any to drink" or " where do you live? (even though the cop has my licence in his hand )"...i betcha ya the cop is actuallly meaning to say "what drugs are yo traffikin' tonite? :D "
lol..yeah rite!!!

There's only a few places I'll do the speed limit at.

Past cop shops. Past RBT stations. Past speed cameras. Past known mobile-camera spots. (Getting some kind of pattern here?) :)

The only other place I'll sit at or slightly below the speed limit is around schools (school zone or not). Too many little kids with a lot of exuberance, but not much lateral vision or impulse control.

Aside from that, I usually sit at 5-10km/hr over. It depends, of course. If I'm driving home late at night on deserted roads, then I'll up it a bit more. I drive to the conditions, which is the spirit of the laws on speeding, officer ;)

I mean, I've driven home up the Hume Highway from Melbourne at a significant speed above the limit, but that was at 4AM and there wasn't another soul to be seen. I slow down once I hit Goulburn, and then Campbelltown, of course.

45+
you get sent a pretty heffy fine and also an automatic summons to court, usually if you don't wait the state's time, they might be lenient on the fine.
