I really think Ford need to pull there head out and stop trying to protect the V8 bogans, let the 6 Turbo be all it can be, and fix their stupid clutch.
Then they will have a winner.

Thats some really sad times for the F6, it has much more in it then that. The xr6t did very well though

I was very disappointed reading the MOTOR mag as I currently have a Typhoon on order. I have no faith in MOTOR magazine as there editions just contradict each other. Read Dec issue and then febuary issue and see the back flips they do.
If you read the back pages of the MOTOR magazines the time they have for the F6 is 5.73 however all there drama in the comparisons were with the 6.4s. It makes good reading, especially for those who own XR6T's and Xr8's.
Also what is the point of making a big fuss over times which were achieved on a hot and humid day. They chose a 38 degree day to do a test.

I wouldn't be surprised if they do another back flip in another 2 months.
The truth will prevail in the months to come when more people get the car and tests are done on run in vehicles.

Yesterday I passed by a bookshop and I read the current MOTOR mag for few mins, according to the figures provided by MOTOR It seems like the 195 kw EVO 8 is faster than 270kw F6 and even the V8 HSV.

4 litre 6-cylinder turbo charged still cant beat the 2 litre 4-cylinder EVO ? Maybe the 1776kg is too heavy for F6 to be fast .....

there arent many production cars this side of reality that can beat a evo8 in a 0-100 sprint

at the back pages, they quote the best times they have done with that car ever, not the most recent.

Yeah, and that is my point. They have done 2 road tests with the Typhoon. And they have chosen to compare the most recent slower time with the best times recorded for the xr6T. Makes the story more interesting.

Dr Yang, you state the obvious. The evo8 is in a different league. Everyone knows they demolish the majority of cars under $100,000.
Not only weight but it's all wheel drive system contributes to why it will demolish a hsv or typhoon over the 100km/h test.
However when compared in the 1/4 mile the evo 8 only has a slight edge.

Sort of reminds be of the early 90's in that respect, the whole 'different league' type thing. Fat, slow, lumpy falcons and commodores get raped stupid 2 years in a row by an R32.

Hence the most, inbred motorsport invented next to NASCAR is invented.
V8supercars!

Which is kinda like a footy team picking up their ball and going over to another oval because they cant win, then when the other team comes over to play some footy theyre told theyre not allowed

The way I read the article was that they tested the XR6T and GT in hotter more humid conditions then the F6 so you would expect the F6 times to be better.
I just think Ford has handled it's launch all wrong, to start accusing MOTOR and Wheels of driver abuse was not very smart, both these mags put together has a massive influence on the market.
They should of just shut up changed the clutch and moved on, MOTOR's story might of been more favourable then.

Either way the F6 has totally failed to impress and it's launch has suffered from it's bad times and clutch issues.
After all the issues, and the list is long with the XR6T MK1 you can just hear all the Ford fans unease with this fiasco, maybe they need the F6 MKII :P

MYS15, I don't understand your first paragraph. Don't you mean that you expect the F6 times to be even worse if the XR6T and GT were tested on more hotter and humid conditions?

The way I read the article was that FPV Typhoon is shit and you should buy a XR8, XRT, or GT instead if you want better performance. Also they emphasize that the clutch is a huge problem even though Ford have been investigating the clutch problem and have resolved it.

What Ford did that was wrong was to make the wrong assumption. David Flint(CEO of FPV) posted on FordForums site saying that the only way they managed to get the clutch to fail was flat shifting. Hence they made assumption MOTOR was flat shifting. Big mistake.
However, they did take there word back once the truth was uncovered.

In my own opinion I think MOTOR are getting Ford back for making this assumption of flat shifting without consulting them and indeed Ford will suffer badly because of it. MOTOR has had the last laugh. They are little kids.

Who would buy a Typhoon after reading that single edition of MOTOR? Not me, but in this case I will because I've test driven one and was very impressed. I hope everyone believes that the Typhoon is slow when in fact it is fast, so that there aren't that many on the road.

David Flint also forwarded an email from his chief engineer in which the engineer says that the F6 Typhoon is the fastest Ford that they have.
Beleive what you want but for me, I think the F6 will be marginally quicker than the XR6T and it will be proven once the F6's have been run in.
I don't get how a F6 which is a XR6T with 50% more boost, stronger conrods, 50% larger intercooler, dual air intakes, has 100 more nm of torque, and 30 kw more power, can be slower than it's little brother.

It can be argued that the skylines are more comparable to the holdens and ford. They are quite large and more practical.
Evo8's are fast little 4 cylinders in which you have to hammer to get it to unleash it's power. My point is holdens and fords are big family sedans so I see them to be in different leagues.
To you they may be all the same. i.e. 4 wheels etc.. Might as well throw a landcruiser in the same comparison as well.

if you want to see the real benefit of the F6 have a look at the comparable 'in gear' accelleration time for it, the GT and the new Clubsport. Motor have tested these cars between 80 - 120 kmph and the F6 walks all over the others.
