I'd like to bitch about the current driving tests system!

Although alot of you probably already have your full licence, i don't. Im on my green P's.

To get your licence you now not only have to sit for the L's computer test, then do a practical test to get your red P's. But you have to do a test to get on your green P's and another to get your silvers.

These computer tests cost something like $30 dollars, and you even have to buy the rules book now, where as before they were free.

All in all it cost me over $100 to sit for my Green P's and get my two year licence. And i still have one more computer test to go.

How is this making me a safer/better driver?? I have no idea, i'd rather spend this money doing an advanced driving course, then doing a five minute test on a computer!!!!

That is all :-?

bah!

IMO it should be stricter, but less time on your P's as they serve less purpose than the tests.

i reckon they should make people re-test every 10 years, i say that without shame cause there are alot of people on the roads who have forgotten the rules and grown complacent. we all know this to be true. 8)

Yeah make the driving tests a lot harder and you should have to pass a defensive driving course.
This way we dont need 40 Km/h speed limits.
But if the government was serious about saving lives rather then making money this would of happened years ago. :-?

Instead of F***in lowering all speed limits by 10km/h [dunno when it's gonna happen but it will happen! ] they should get ppl retested once in a few years [maybe 5 or 10yrs].
On another note... did any of you guys/gals do the driving test thingo on tele??
Well.. I did and F**K do I need to touchup my knowledge on the road rules.. Alot has changed..
And if u guys have to know, I only scored 35 outta 55 [I think it was 55]..
SO u guys better beware of an asian bad driver [yes another one  ] in a blue S15 ROFL
Drive safely boys

yeh well I could understand if I had to do a defensive driving course...

but I fail to see how touching a computer screen in an RTA office for 10mins ( at the cost of $30 odd something) is improving my driving skills.......

i think undertaking some forum of defensive and/or advance driving course should be rewarded by the RTA.

Most speed cameras are revenue raisers NOT safety devices.

Driving home on a dead empty 3 lane highway @ 60km/hr is bloody dangerous, the speeds are just too slow and you get bored at the wheel, possibly inducing 'microsleeps'.

yer i did that test on tele, got 40 just

i didnt get a question wrong in L's which was good, but failed my first drivign test for P's because i didnt cut across the road in front of an oncoming car (i was at a give way sign), but waiting till it went instead, and he failed me cause i was too slow

im thinking the driving instructor i had put the guy who took me on the test up to it, because he definitely knew the guy, and was even chatting with him after the test for a good 15 minutes while i waited to find out i failed.

got it no problems the second go (only two minor infringements the guy said, he said practicaly perfect), and surprise, the driving instructor didnt know this guy at all....

hahah i got 36 in the test. did anyone actually get over 50??? im talking in the whole of australia

driving tests here are piss easy! even now! try getting your licence in the UK or european country. now thats hard!! they have to sit heaps of test, not do anything wrong, do a night test, do stuff like back around corners, anyway im sure you have all seen the tv programs about it. my cousin had trouble when he went for it over there. he is a smart kinda guy, and it still took him 2 or 3 goes. his sister however, took over 5 or 6 lol

LOL.. sounds like me.. I didn't get any wrong on the L's test [except for the first example Q  I blame nerves]
And for my P's I was failed cause I didn't giveway to the other car at a giveway sign [mind u the sign was in a bad condition].. 2nd no probs :)

I could be very wrong, but i thought that i saw an add for AAMI insurance, where they offered their customers an advanced driving course.

Wouldn't it be nice if you did one, they lowered your insurance
