Post subject:  Jealousy or just road rage?

Hey all,

I drive my red s15 everyday. Every so often I get these SHIT BOX cars tailgating me. And yes I do drive to the road limit. I dont understand why these people like tailgating in traffic?! :-?

Is it because I am asian? or that I drive a S15? or both?

Last time, I had this Toyota Corolla running up my ass. I was like "wtf is his problem". This was at night by the way and he/she started flashing me. WTF?

Anywayz, I couldnt take it anymore ... so I slowed down to like 20km/hr then he just went nuts and overtake me from the other side of the road  ...

So the question is, are these people jealous or just plain road rage?

I dont know, I had a random pull out infront of me on an 70km road (pitty road, monavale).
they then decided to slam on their brakes and stop in the middle lane in the middle of the road in a 70km zone, i beeped them, they then pulled over to the left lane (which is still an open lane) and called me a retard?

i didnt slam the horn down, i just tooted..

i just dont understand some people. i get tailgaited alot too.. why are people in such a rush all the time? specially in traffic!

it all depends. in your case. its a mix of jealousy and their pride. these guys just feel the need to tailgate and harass you. Their car is so underpowered so they try and race you for a thrill to feel better about themselves. other's just find a reason to use the horn. so YES it certainly road-rage, it's just the mentality of the average australian driver on our roads.

mentality of the average Australian driver huh?

now who's stereotyping?

it's not jealousy. 9 out of 10 people out there wouldn't even know what your car is.

I get tailgated in my wagon,I almost get run off the road most mornings by people who are still half asleep and are not paying attention to anything other than their kids in the back seat or to drinking their extra large latte.

Drivers in general are just fucking useless nowadays. I've been licensed and on the road for 17yrs now and the standard of car control displayed by joe average out there is really getting quite frightening.

there are days where I consider myself lucky to have gotten home alive.
the trouble is,noone who is in a position to do anything about it ever will,as it will cost them money. and noone in power likes losing money.

less drivers mean less cars on the road, less road tax, registration, car sales (taxes), less petrol (taxes), less traffic infrigements and parking fines (more revenue) so its in the governments best interest to make it piss easy to get your licence, they will make more money in the long run.

the odd road toll is nothing to the amount of money they recieve from road users.

exactly. who cares if a few of the plebs die? there are plenty more coming up every year to replace them. that's the attitude we're dealing with. so long as the pollies themselves aren't affected, who gives a fuck?

in the grand scheme, more crashes benefits the economy far more than people driving well and avoiding accidents. more parts sales, more smash repair labour, more mechanical labour, more red tape paperwork crap for white collar people to do,more incidents for the emergency services to attend to earn their cash and so on... like most things,it comes back to money in the end.

How could I forget them? they've cost me enough over the years to have an R34 GTR for a weekend toy.

premiums aside,I lost $6k on my first monaro, the wagon debacle cost me about $10k,and the labour will be at least 200hrs by the time the replacement car is brought up to the same spec as the last one was before the dickhead down the road from me can-opened it - by backing out of his driveway without looking.
I lost about the same on my second S14,and about $9k on my first. none of those accidents were my fault, and I lost out each time, but that's another story.

my cars have paging alarms and third party property to cover the other arsehole's car these days. I won't give the 'insurance' companies a cent more than I have to. they've had their pound of flesh, with plenty of interest already.

I'm refering to Australians as a whole. I wasn't targeting a specific ethnic group.

I do. I hate the RB in my own car because it's a PITA to tune with the auto box behind it,I hate SR's because I don't have one,I hate V8's because the owners generally hate my car,I hate rotaries because they either deafen me or their owners drive me insane.

I don't hate the RB26DETT. I'd like one to put into my wagon.

is this thread going to be about your car as well now?
