I do that occasionally as well,but I need serious provocation first. put an FTO into a guardrail one night too when the guy shit himself and lost control as he swerved around me after roaring up behind me,tailgating and flashing the high beams after he tried to merge into the side of my car a few minutes before.
he learned a lesson to be sure.

Gotta say people that travel in the right lane at the same speed as people in the left or when no one is in the left shit me.

But if the roadways are filling up then riding people arses is not on.

Also I am a loyal merge waver and hate it when merges give nothing (its not f***ing hard)

I over take in the right lane

I also stick to the speed limit

If someone is up my arse in the right lane, i'm not going to speed to make them happy. I will proceed to 'play' with them from then on

the right lane is for overtaking. not for cruising along doing exactly the speed limit and refusing to give way to anyone. there are big white signs on the side of the road stating that you should give way when someone comes up bhind you... 'keep left unless overtaking'.

sit in the middle if you want to cruise along,but leave the right lane clear unless you're overtaking. surely that's not hard to do right?
it seems to be beyond the majority of road user's abilities however,as I've copped it every time I'm on the M4 ir M5 for as long as I can remember.

i HAD to add wen i read the thing about the waving bit

nonwavers shit me when i purposely flash my lights to let them in.
to me, that is like the epitome of low when it comes to driving,
i dunon why i get so offended.. just cos.. haha

m5 right lane, is not for cruising the speed limit. enough said.

oh and brake tap works a charm, i've had a "fully sick" charade tailgate me when i did it, his brakes locked up and he slid towards the kerb, lucky he just nudged it...

I use the overtaking lane for it's purpose.

BUT if I AM overtaking someone, and some arse clown wants to tailgate me because i'm not doing 120 + when i am in the right lane.... game on.

My philosophy is that you try to be courteous to other road users and inconvience them as little as possible. If someone needs to merge and you can change lanes to allow that, you do it, if someone is in a rush and you can move out of the way, you should.

If I had a valid reason for being in a rush, and someone was driving along in the right lane and could easily pull over to allow me to pass and didn't, Id be understandably annoyed. So if I was driving along and holding someone up unnecessarily, Id understand if they would be angry at me. While my speedo reads 110km/h it could easily be underreading.

Don't get me wrong, tailgating is not an acceptable response, its downright dangerous but, if I zone out for a moment and I didnt notice another motorist in a rush behind me, if they flash me, I move out of the way If I can.

Yeah,of course it does. the other driver who pulls in front of them without looking has no blame right?

there are far more causes for accidents than just speed. speed is always a factor,because the vehicles have to be moving to actually hit each other. to say it's the primary factor in all cases is naive.

I'm particularly sick of seeing 'Joe Plumber' and soccer mums speeding down the freeway at 20 kms + over the speed limit.

Where as the 'hoon' (me) in the 'hoon car' is sitting in the left lane doing 100 (the limit)

And then I get the 'pinky' """"speeding"""" <-- (extra quote marks) ads telling me to slow down because it's all i do apparently.

and that has what to do with your previous statement about speeding being the most common cause of accidents exactly?

I'm sick of seeing performance cars get defected for low ride height and wide wheels when 4wds get away with hugely jacked up ride heights and enormous tyres that are outside the guards by more than my wheels are wide,but that's a topic for another thread.

I thought it was the sudden stop.

Seriously, the causes of crashes are multifactorial and while speed may be a contributory risk factor for injury or death, I believe it isn't a root cause of the majority of accidents per se, but rather serves to make accidents worse, should they occur.

Don't get me wrong, Im not condoning speeding in all its forms, claiming we should abolish speed limits, or even raise them significantly, but the argument that all speeding is bad, always and always causes death carries very little weight.

The reason i used "rush" and "speed related" together was to emphasise the potentially fatal acciedents.

Someone rushing along at 30km/h weaving around CBD traffic like a tool is not likely to be killed.
