This is a pretty shit situation. Obvious plagiarism.

One of two things has happened here,

a) its an innocent mistake by the Web Administrator who hasn't had the education on how to quote and reference when using someone else's material.

OR

b) its an intentional copy by someone who knows the implications of doing so.

You should be sure of which it is before going off the deep end at them.

Also since they are advertising their email address next to credit card logos I assume that this could be a business venture for them. You could get them for expected business loss due to plagiarism.

Have you had a response from them? I'm sure we would all be interested to hear what they have to say about this.

If it does turn into a legal issue, be cautious of what you post in public forums. Its possible it can be used against you. ie threats etc.

Having checked out their site a bit, I would guess that this is a pretty new - rushed to put together site to advertise their business. The quality of the website indicates to me that they do not have expertise in website building and are probably doing it themselves (rather then hiring professionals who would know better then to copy)

Unless otherwise indicated by them, its probably option (a) of my last post.

Also their forums have just started, nearly no posts.

Posting a formal complaint there (note do not use emotion, or threats - just the facts) should get their attention.

good luck

erm... first post on that forum: Posted: Sat Oct 21, 2000 12:01 am

Seems as though it just isn't used. God knows how long they have had laws work on their site for.

He's lucky not to have copied material from Nissan or Toyota or any other big Co. I know nissan have taken websites to court before for copyright issues. (I'll be damned if I can find the article now though... grr)

I hope he in the least links back to silviansw, and gives credit where credits due...

Unfortunatly I ordered my ECU before I posted the web site on this forum. So then when i found out they had ripped off l6a6w6s6 web site it was too late and was already on its way to my house.
What could i do :x :-?

What did you actually buy?

Cos if you have a CA18DET there is no need for a daughterboard, you just take it to a chip tuner and they either reprogram the factory chip or put a new one in its place. No fuss required. Hope you didn't spend too much... :-?

Nah I just bought a remapped ECU supposely an old MINES ECU.
Retuned for OPTIMAX and has the boost and speed cuts removed.
I will run the new ecu on the dyno to see if any gains are to be had if not will just replace with stock ECU.
Cost me $150
