What the fuck is with these laws?

Yeah, tell me about it.

I got my Ls on my 16th birthday, my red Ps on my 17th birthday, and my greens on my 18th birthday. I was all set for my fulls on my 20th birthday when this happened...wrong place (Kellyville), wrong time (wasn't doing anything wrong), asshole HWP cop.

My parents are very angry about it; not at me, but rather for there being such stupid laws. I can almost grasp the rationalisation behind P-plates, but making people display them on the outside? It just means they fall off (like in my case), EVEN IF YOU USE MAGNETIC ONES.

the 2nd week i got my new car!!!
i got pulled over for the first time, and all he could care about was my rear no. plate not being visible and thats a loss of 1 point and a fine i was like what?! where else can i put it!! and he didn't have an answer, he said get a p plate holder and I said and that will flap over my no. plate which is illegal anyway!!

I mean its still visible, but look at it, there's no-where else to put the damn thing! it wont hang underneith the no. plate either, too big of a gap

tried. it flaps over the no. plate LOL (if its below the no. plate it flaps up) and it rips through the p plate, ive lost a few from cable ties and when it flaps it slowely tears away the hole..

I actually attached a metal bracket for the p plate underneath the rear plate so it was fully visable

cops didnt mind that at all

you can display them properly it just takes effort

it shouldnt have to be effort to custom make things etc just to suit some new laws, i guess if worst comes to worst i can be one of those people who make p-plate cubes and stick thousands along my back window :o
oh well, 5 more days of it anyway! when i get back from QLD / Coffs harbour im going for my fulls.

I was only on my green Ps for about 2 days after I bought my S15. Here's a pic of how I attached them.

Note that I used 4 cable ties through the top 2 holes in the P-plate and threaded them through to the two bottom holes of my number plate.

Hey I like the sound of that. 6 P plates and make it a P-plate cube that you can hang off your rear towing hook :lol: I wonder what coppers would have to say about that.

chris, did your p plate flap upwards though? alot of people i know that cable tied theirs under the licence plate flap up when driving :lol: it is fancy though!

and they shouldn't have anything to say, its displaying P plates!!

Honestly. When I got my silvia I used electical cabling to mount the red P plate underneath the rear number plate. That Lasted till I got my Green P plates, and that one lasted until my little brother got off his full licence which would be about 3.5 years in total.

The front P plate one was quite a pain though.

Still. I do find it absolutely retarded, that one can loose ones licence over such a trivial thing.

I actually called the RTA about this and they told me you wont get introuble, its the same situation like if you were on your L's. the passenger has to have their full license.

HOWEVER!!!
when my friend walked in and asked they said you can't drive the car full stop. which conflicts with learners driving family cars that have a turbo or are a V8... it's the same kind of thing when you're on you're P's...which is what i got told why i can drive it.

there's nothing on the RTA site either about this.

Sorry, it's illegal.

The reason it is legal for you on your Ls because you are considered to be under the instruction of the fully licenced driver.

On your Ps, you are not under instruction.

why the hell would the chick at the rta tell me its legal and it's like driving your L's?

so that means i cant drive my dad around for example..?


I have her details anyway. was Warriewood RTA that told me otherwise..
