Got defected on Sunday -

- Pod Filter
- Aftermarket Exhaust
- too low
- cracked windscreen
- bald tyres
- Racing seat

The cop (HWP) said you can have all the mods AS LONG as they are engineered. And she knew her shit, She asked about the BOV and asked if it was Plumb back and also a few other things.

So in her words, an engineering cert. would have had me on my way straight away without any hassles.

you may want to have a second look at your list

I would like to engineer my bald tyres please mr engineer.

Your car (and mine) is a rolling defect. What possible frame of mind can you be in to drive it with bald tyres and a cracked windscreen? A bastard cop would have red stickered it as unsafe to drive.

Last time i checked cracked windscreens and bald tyres weren't mods

Obviously still would have got me for the windscreen and tyres.

Back in the day, I was driving my car around organising the engine number change, Got pulled over, done for mismatching engine numbers. Went to the local RTA after , paid my fucking fine and engine change.

of course bald tyres and a cracked windscreen are modifications - just because theyre not benefitial changes, doesnt mean theyre not changes.

Engineers certificate only buys you time, however it does not mean your safe.. any police can declare a testing done with EPA if they think that your car does not comply with ADR...

when driving you car on local streets use things like exhaust silencers too keep the exhaust noise down, this ussually acts as the ice breaker to getting defected.

Sorry matey, but last time I checked even if you had an engineering certificate you aren't going to be let off for bald tyres and a cracked windscreen. I'm obviously refering to this bit.....

how much the certificates cost nowadays?

Say if I wanted to engineer:
enclosed pod,
plumbed back bov,
cooler,
coilovers,
exhaust (I wonder if it's possible to engineer these varex exhausts, I guess it should be possible if it's closed and not connected to 12+)

Engineers certificates are the biggest rip-off on the planet. They start at $800 for a couple hours of a guys time plus a piece of paper.
I know of people that have paid $3500 to engineer a car with quite a few mods.

There is no way they can justify charging that amount. Its definitely price gouging

My surefire method is keep nissan rims, normalish ride height, a proper barrel type rear muffler pinned up close to the body and its pretty easy to fly under the radar. And no external gate near rbt's

my cert has got me out of being defected maybe 3 or 4 times,
considering they can charge you $75 per defect, (and infact one copper that pulled me over was telling me that if i didnt have a cert hed be fining me $75 per defect, and my cert has 2 pages of mods) combined with buying stock parts to clear the defect that can easily add up to over the $800 odd $$$ it costs to engineer.
each has their own oppinion, but when u drive a drift car with a cage and stickers that sticks out like dogs balls, anything that may possibly get you off a defect is well worth it.

Hes based right near me too. Go team!
