I'd just like to post up my first encounter with some stupid commodore driving P-plater.

Stopped at the lights with 2 lanes going straight with parked cars on the left about 70m ahead. I'm in the right lane and in the left lane pulls up this P-plater in what looked like a VN/VP Calais or Berlina so I'm thinking he wants to race and show off to his mate in the passenger seat. (although I never race anyone on the streets - its just stupidly dangerous to do it on the streets)

To my surprise he starts spinning the wheels while its still a RED LIGHT and the adjacent side light turned amber - he takes off flying through the red light and vanishes into the distance - I'm sitting there thinking :-? what an idiot! thats incredibly dangerous as he could've T-boned another car crossing the intersection *it was wet too*

Now I'm thinking about it later - what the heck was this guy trying to achieve? Running a red light doesn't really show that your car is faster than anyone else's especially when the other car doesn't move at all! Another way to see it is that he knows his commodore is an inferior car and the only way he's ever going to get in front is by breaking the rules and taking stupid risks in the process.

It just shows the reckless attitude these P-platers have - they seem to think their commodores are race cars and that they are going to be the next fully sick street racer. I hope police are cracking down on those P-plater commodore drivers as they're probably just as dangerous as some of the few P-platers in imports considering the attitudes some of these people have.

I'm glad P-platers have the turbo restrictions now - at least it reduces the number of idiots out there ruining the reputation of import drivers and also hopefully reduces the number of nice imports that end up being written off by these reckless fools.

well, it kinda proves that it doesnt matter what car youre driving. The P plater laws mean 0, because if youre an idiot like that guy, a GTR or barina wont matter, he is still an idiot!

I had a P plater in an R32 GTS-t do the exact same thing to me a while back.
I guess he was so afraid of the wagon's awesome presence that he didn't feel he could get in front of me without fouling the red.

there are days that I wish my car was manual. spinning it up to the limiter GTR-style would put most people off trying to run me before they even start I reckon.

my girlfriend cops this kind of crap constantly, being a girl driving an S14. everyone trys to run her at the lights. I don't get that so often in the wagon,as most people confuse it for a volvo and expect an easy win.

this was just before those ads started. I would've gone a bit of road rage on him,but had three people in my car,and was running late on the way to a concert.

well guys i am a p plater but only because when i was around 18 i had fines i didnt pay and my license got cancelled and i didnt bother with it untilll about 2yrs ago i am 26 and own a s13 silvia which catches alot of eyes but i dont go racing around and showing of around on the streets, so what i am trying to say is you cant judge a book by its cover. but i know what you mean about the commodores believe me around where i live all the younger guys get a commadore as soon as they get there red p's so all you see in mount druitt is platers with commadores
