Have any of you had a look at the petrol prices today? WTF? Outside my place it's $1.32 for unleaded :o . I paid $1.42 for V-Power today coz I was in real need of some petrol, but only pumped $20 worth coz could only see the $$ rise but the the fuel amount count was going no where! That's the most I've paid in ages.

I can't believe it! By this rate we'll hit $2 per litre by the end of the year.

Stepped in to pay for the crap and the guy ahead of me was having a big whinge to the service guy coz he couldn't believe it either.

fuel prices tent to fluctuate, as opposed to continually inflating.

i rekon they'll be back down the 1.10 range in a couple of months

but yeah, damn the governments!

its because we are coming up to school holidays, people need more fuel, prices are already up (not because its more expensive per barrel) so they can put it up a little more but because its been gradually going up over the last few months, no one will notice.

and that the price they are charging per barrel is also falling, so we really should be getting more oil for the money.

They had on NOVA this morning that fuel has come back up 20c p/l over the last 2-3 months, even though in that time, oil prices have been dropping.

it sucks because it's not regulated i guess. it's got nothing to do with price per barrel or the aussie dollar as the individual operators or company just bumps the price up when they think they can make an extra buck. it's a pretty crap system and it really needs to be looked at. instead of fixing the problem by going to the cause, the government just does things to bandaid fix the issue, eg. promote gas conversion. i'm pretty sure the government's coffers are being fed by some of the oil conglomerates.

and the gas conversions aren't even a plus in the grand scheme of things,as LPG is going to rise in a few years time the same as petrol is as it's slotted to be hit with an excise as well.

you'll get a few years of slightly cheaper fuel, but it'll go up in price long before you've made back the cost of the conversion, and then you're driving a less-fuel efficient and less pewerful car,and paying the same fuel price as the rest of us.

Fuel pricing is disgusting. we get rorted by the fuel companies at my work as well. we have a single bowser and sell normal unleaded. our buying price for the small amount we go through (2000-2500L) is close to 10c a litre higher than the shell servo up the road from us. we only manage to sell fuel to our account paying customers, and to people who don't mind paying extra for the full driveway service that we offer. funnily enough though,we're actually 10c/L cheaper than most servos atm at $1.21/L,which is 5c more per litre than we paid for it a couple of months ago, back when fuel was $1.10/L.

all four of the cars that we run here at home run on premium unleaded. it's a further slap in the face that that costs so much more than normal unleaded does, which is already so obscenely expensive, for no valid reason. it's blatant profiteering, simple as that. they know we need to buy fuel, and they're the only ones selling it,so we're held at their mercy.

Justin...
