actually its not

they can ride two abreast as long as they dont use more than 1 lane

also, cyclists are entitled to an ENTIRE lane like a car

well its stupid if u think about it.. of course they wont ever use 2 lanes.. they're not even 1/2 the width of cars! u gotta be pretty fkn fat man..

alot of them are tools, they lean on ur car and shit

theres like fully smooth and open cycling paths on the side off the street yet they use the roads? whats with that.. its understandable if there are no alternate routes besides the roads

even footpaths, most the time theres no ppl on them, why dont they use that

when they get hit they're all stupid and blah blah i got hit by that big black car wiht shannon noll in it.. im hurt gonna sue u now boo hoo

the way i see it, why not use the convenient footpath and just 50/50 ull hit a person or stack it at most instead of being on the road and get hit by a car and cry

roads are not made for cyclists if they were, each lane would be 50cm in width and not 1-2m full stop

As far as I'm aware they changed the law last year making it illegal for them to travel two abreast. I'm gonna look up the legislation but you may be right.

ahhh yeah that makes zero sense at all. roads were first built for horses, then horses and carts. before bikes were even invented. they have just been widened to accomodate cars.

bikes dont travel on footpaths because there is more of a chance of hitting a pedestrian and injuring them. have your heard the slogan? "the road is there to share" ? should motorbikes be on the footpath too? they arent much wider than pushbikes

traffic can be complex but it is modelled similarly to water in a long continuous cavity..

if theres some lil object stuck in a hose, the water behind aint gonna wait for u.. all the water behind is gonna get angry and build pressure so the lodged object gets taken along for the ride... too bad cyclists dont fly in reality..

thats why horses and carts go use roads anymore.. bikes can keep up with the flow.. moral? u just cant have efficient traffic flow and mgmt with those cycling tools on the road at the same time.. they just slow everyone down..

that cant be right, (im assuming you meant 'cant use roads') there is a horse and cart that goes around the city (i havent seen it for a while) i cant remember the company it was for. police still use horses. people in the coutry use horses to get around. again they are entitled to a whole lane etc

ye thats true, the difference btw ppl on horses and cyclists is they dont attempt to ride on hwys where the speed limit is high and cars are plenty no?

eg epping road, king georges road, pacific hwy etc

if u were a cyclist would u rather ride on roads and risk gettin hit by a 1.2ton car or go on the side walks or cyclist paths and have much less risk of hitting something 80kg or less

I don't mind them using the road....

HOWEVER....

When you are driving with a group of traffic and you all have to overtake the cyclist but then you stop at the lights, the cyclist will sneak throught the traffic to the front, then you have to over take the cyclist AGAIN. And AGAIN and AGAIN.

They should stay in line with the rest of the traffic.

ye thats a good point.. they shouldnt be on roads, esp in peak hour and in the mornings

a cyclist going at 30km in 1 lane on a road can have same effect as a car broken down in one lane wiht 70km/h speed limit

there should be an rta van patrolling major roads to take these tools off the road lol
