Anyone who supported the GST in the election are f'n morons. It hasnt benefit much at all. Everything has gone up. The tax thresholds which were promised to decreased hasnt improve our standards of living. The threshholds has not outweighed the amount of GST we are pumping into the government.

If they'd payed taxes like we did (ie petrol)... and maybe if they got second jobs to keep breathing... be good if they can see it in a battlers eyes...

Taxes should be generalised across the board and have only one threshhold. If you earn less than 10k a year, you should be exempted. For everyone else, a fixed percent (except for entities/companies). This would simplify and encourage more hrs per week, therefor a boost to the economy and increase employment coz you would want to work more and that you arnt punished for the second job. This will solve the jobs that are going to overseas people. I wouldnt mind doing a second provided i dont get slugged.

The only problem with this system is that it doesnt benefit the government and therefore it would be abolished...

The policies in place only interest them... eg, If you own more property, you pay less taxes...

Oh another thing, Transfer of ownership should be paid once and that it should be the day you purchase the vehicle... if you bought a brand new car for a $1000 bucks, you pay $30 bucks in transfer fees. It should stop there. But no. If you sell that car in the same your for the same price, the goverment double dips and makes another $30. Now an average car stays on the road for more than 10 yrs and is normally transfered on average 5 times in its life.

Where does that money go??? My 2c.. sorry if it doesnt make sense.

Overseas probably. Hasn't the governemnt up until recently been having consistant surplus budgets and been shipping the money overseas to pay off the national debt, which was 500billion or something?

We're one of the top few highest taxed cities/economies in the world. I rekon each person should be taxed equally, rather than the progressive tax system, while that does serve a purpose in stabalising the economy, it's not exactly fair to the people who actually do something with their life and make the $$$. Social securities the same, while it does serve a purpose stabalising the economy, it's not fair to the people who go and work hard. I'd like to know how many millions/billions GST generates per year, and how much of it is actually being used as it was originally intended to.
